I can create a blog but not access it

    Hi, new to all this. Using WordPress 3.0.1. I’m a Peace Corp volunteer in Moldova. We’re doing a youth project with 20 different communities around the country where each group will create a blog and every individual blog post will appear on the main site page.

    Tried using the plugin Community Blogs but it didn’t appear to be functioning. Then, I think I figured out a way to accomplish this using MU Sitewide Tags. But just when I thought I had it working…

    I can’t access any of the sample blogs I’ve created. I get redirected to a default website page or i get error messages like:
    The server can not find the requested page:
    /wp-login.php (port 80)
    Please forward this error screen to node01.tmdhosting940.com’s WebMaster.
    or
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_has_groups() in /home/cetateni/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bp-group-management/bp-group-management-bp-functions.php on line 73

    Any help regarding why I can no longer access any blog or what plug in is best to accomplish multiple blogs feeding into one would be greatly appreciated.

    @conectcahul deactivate bp-group-management plugin first and see if erratic behavior disappears.
    Sitewide tags plugin is a good plugin, and works for me.
    Also, check out http://buddydev.com/buddypress/blog-categories-for-groups-plugin/

    Thanks, I’ll check out buddydev. Unfortunately deactivating bp-group-management didnt allow me to access any of the blogs.

    Any other suggestions out there? Do I need to contact TMD hosting or is it a WP/BP problem?

    The problem is not normally found in sound installations. Deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress. Then check if you can access the blogs you created as Super Admin. If that works, activate BuddyPress and BP plugins one by one.

    Thanks, but not sure if I understand. If I deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress, I not only can’t access the blogs but I can’t access my main page either. I get the following: Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_page_title() in /home/cetateni/public_html/wp-content/themes/simple-wp-community-theme/header.php on line 9

    Thanks for your help but please clarify.

    The reason Mercime asked you to deactivate BP was to establish whether blogs worked with WP, blogs are a feature of WP rather than BP and it’s important before running BP or attempting to troubleshoot issues that it’s established everything is working properly with plain vanilla WP.

    You need to switch to a NON BP theme if you have disabled BP. Select the default twentyten theme or whatever default theme is installed for WP and confirm whether blogs work correctly.

    OK. Thanks to both of you. I was actually already using a WP theme and even after BP and all plugins were deactivated, I still was not able to enter a blog (even on the backend).
    So I contacted my site provider and they fixed by re-applying my account’s wildcard settings. I however needed to clear my browser’s cache and cookies before I could reach my subdomains (blogs) properly.

    Now back to the prob I was originally trying to address, getting all the posts on the subdomain blogs to appear on my main site page. It is unclear to me if Sitewide tags can actually do this
    ( see discussion https://wordpress.org/support/topic/one-blog-streaming-multiple-smaller-ones). All posts do appear on the Activity page. The problem would be resolved if I could just get my Activity page to appear as my main page :)

    The “Recent Site Wide Posts” widget pulls the latest posts from a multisite install.

    To get the Activity Stream on your front page, go to “Settings” > “Reading” and check Front page displays, then select Activity stream from the dropdown.

    Thanks! That worked. Having the front page displays appear on my home page is good enough!

    @conectcahul glad you worked it out.
    As an aside, I remember that topic which you linked to from a year ago :-) Just saying, Sitewide tags plugin rules :-)
