techguy posted on the forum topic Has anyone tried it with WP 3.0.1 and BuddyPress 1.2.6? in the group Invite Anyone: 14 years ago
@jenniferljl I’ve been using this plugin on 1.2.6 without any problems also. I agree this is really an essential plugin to grow a community.

Might as well consider displaying it in the activity stream as well. Although, the idea of an ajax load of the achievements might be needed for the activity stream. So, you just say Achievements (3) and then when people click on it, it pops up a list of the achievements they’ve earned. Maybe even their […]

This plugin should get you half way there: http://achievementsapp.com/ Although, you’d still likely need to integrate the API with World of Warcraft. I don’t know enough about WoW to know how that is done.

Definitely looks like a permission issue to me. I’d check the file permissions on the sub folders to make sure that the permission is cascading down the way it should. Depending on your web server setup, I think that the user and group that owns the folder could be an issue.

Thanks @Ezeke I appreciate you sharing your implementation. Your site definitely has some good ideas for naming.
How did you get the icons you used? Did you develop them yourself or get them somewhere?

techguy posted on the forum topic Why not leave ”points” to CubePoints? in the group Achievements: 14 years ago
That looks like Andy’s plugin. I bet Achievements will actually have to plug into it. Although, it’s a good idea to re-use some of Andy’s code for the progress bar. Could basically extend his code in lots of interesting ways. Man, if time were just unlimited.

@boonebgorges Have you looked at adding a new message on the BP.org avatar upload? I know the issues of the file permissions on the server, so what about modifying it so that the upload feature isn’t show, but instead some message that tells people that BP.org uses gravatar.com for profile pics. Might be an easy interim fix which would not make…[Read more]

Yep, this is a known issue with the server that hosts BP since it also hosts a lot of WP stuff. Use http://gravatar.com and you’ll be able to upload one.

techguy posted on the forum topic Do more with member profile! Help needed! in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years ago
You’ll need to turn on registration in the admin panel and then the registration page will appear. Anything could be done to the profiles. It’s all about adjusting the theme to include the things you mention.

I predict that this won’t be in 1.3. Although, as some of the other threads mention, the basis for being able to do this has been added and could be added in 1.3. I would bet this project is going to need to be done by someone outside of the core developers to make it […]

He’ll like the traffic. Especially since they’re FourSquare’s badges and not that sites. I wonder how the FourSquare badges are licensed.
Thanks for the link @nahummadrid Very helpful!

In the daily Digest, the last line assumes that you haven’t changed the slug. It’s in bp-activity-subscription-digest.php on line 115 that groups is hard coded instead of using the Group Slug. My description is off too, but I see it uses the language file so I must need to just update my language files. It’s […]

As a separate plugin this would make sense. I know I’ve been going through my list and the hardest part has been designing which ones I wanted to do, what to name them and now I’m on to find art work for them. Definitely requires some thought and creativity.

techguy posted on the forum topic not sure if I should use subdirectories or subdomains when creating network in the group Requests & Feedback: 14 years ago
Both options are pretty close to the same now. Their use to be more things that you could do with one and not the other. Now, the biggest thing is just the URL that people can use to reference their blogs. For example, do you prefer blog1.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com/blog1 Either way works. Now it seems […]

I’d love to see other BP sites that have implemented Achievements. I’m looking for the best names to use for the Achievements on my site and I’d love to get some inspiration from other sites that are using it.
Here’s the one that I know that uses it:

You can install BP and bbPress separately and then you don’t have this issue. Just do a search for standalone bbPress install or something and you should find the details to do it.
