@style960 not yet. I have checked spam folder also. They have closed comment in the FAQ section and they have no pre-sales forum where one can register and ask question.

So, how do we “Like” from a blog post and it shows in Activity stream, and then, we “Like” from Activity stream and it shows under a blog post ( or photo or any content page) ??

Just as we can do with “Comments” now – why not with “Likes”? This keeps the end-user confused, as a site-owner its impossible to explain to him. In fact how has BP been designed to allow an user to Favorite a blog post which is no longer in the first page of Activity stream or buried deep down somewhere ?

That is what happened with previous versions of BP, and that is what happens with “Like” or Favorites still now. But commenting is now both way and it does work for me.

Can you please test with localhost (xampp etc) on your own pc/mac with default and core install of WP 4.1 Multisite and BP 2.1.1 and nothing else ?

As far as I know, Jetpack Likes apply to blog posts only and are completely unrelated to BuddyPress favorites. If you ‘like’ something via Jetpack, then that’s separate to any ‘favoriting’ that you do via BuddyPress.

@henrywright – that is the entire problem. End users want to like/fav/star an item from the stream or in the content itself. They are accustomed in this way. If BP has its own favoriting (though it does not allow to favorit in the blog post itself) it is not an integrated experience for the user. My plugin idea will be ( I am not programmer) to duplicate the comments module, as comments can be now made from everywhere to anywhere – then instead of text entry just allow to click a button and as in comments here also a list of clickers (commentors) would appear as a list of Likers which can be shown in an overlay box.

Overall it seems Like is not used or not used properly by BP users. Maybe Jetpack Like is used by many individual blogs.

    What is expected usage :
    1) I am speaking of an uniform Like button under a blog post or a photo or any content. I should be able to Like it there. I should be also able to like it from an entry in the activity stream if I so wish. This is how usually Like is handled in almost all social scripts as well as real world social nets.
    2) On hovering or clicking a Like button or a “Liked” link I should be able to see in a scrollable way the names/avtaars of Likers and the total number of Likes
    3) A tab or link in my Profile should show content names / thumbnails of what I liked.
    4) The plugin should disable BP core favorites
    ———-

When tested with WP4.1, latest BP and Media plugins like rtmedia, the results are:

    • buddypress-like does (4) above , not others
    • love-it.1.0.4 does not work
    • wp-ulike is not a Network plug in at all, its suitable for individual blogs but as a super admin of WP mutlsite you cannot set its features like you can set features of BP – see issues posted by ronia – this and this. While it is nice for Blogs Like buttons do not appear below Media files or Media posts created by Media plugins

    @ubernaut Thanks. I am not a coder yet 🙁
No theme or plugin puts a Like/Favorit button below blog posts in blog pages. Some may do but they do not work at all with WP 4.1, and latest BP.

Jetpack does it but do not recognize BP – Jetpack has no BP-Jetpack bridge that does this??

Hi style960, do you know how to contact the Buddyboss people for pre-sales queries? They seem to have no open forum for this and probably has closed the Q-A page in FAQ.

I submitted some queries via their contact form – and got no reply from them – its 4 days. But the Rtcamp guys seem to be prompt at least in this respect- they reply very fast.

I will be interested in such a theme if they can solve the “Like” problem of WP-BP. I visited the Buddyboss demo but it does not show how standard Blog post or Gallery blog posts of a standard WP 4.1 would look – blog post submission pages are missing too.

Do the Buddyboss people frequent this forum ? If they do and answered such queries it would be a good sign indeed.

    In the page: /admin.php?page=bp-settings
select Allow activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts

Now when I click Comment below an entry in the Activity page a text box opens and allows me to comment. I am using standard theme. I do not know compatibility about third party themes.
    What is your site url?

I can send comment from Activity to a blog post and vice versa bit not Like/Favorit it which is almost insanely critical error I find with BP.

Buddypress-Like does not put any “Like” button below (or anywhere) a blog post in a blog post page. So how do my users like a blog post from the blog post page? When there are lots of Activity its impossible to come to the Activity page and search out where that entry for the blog post is. Am I missing something here ? How does other BP users handle this?

Buddypress-Like also does not put any “Like” tab in the Profile Tabs like the core BP favorits – so how do I find my own collection of Likes afterwards ??? How do I let other users know what I have liked? Thanks for your reply @djsteveb
