I haven’t any good suggestions for your search for a good groups plugin, but if you do use Achievements (I’m the author), please leave me a review and some feedback on that WordPress.org page — thanks 🙂

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic Upgrading jQuery to 2X in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 11 months ago
BuddyPress uses the version of jQuery that comes with WordPress. You’re best to search for how to make WordPress do this change, then BuddyPress will use it.

> Without joining a group, can you post under that group on BuddyPress ? Is there any chance of it ?
If a group is public, you can post, but it’ll also automatically join the user to that group when they make that post. I don’t think there’s a way of mixing group permissions with posting permissions.
What type of group did you make? Public,…[Read more]

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic User "Active for 43 years and 12 months" in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 11 months ago
This is pretty close to the unix epoch date, which makes me suggest the ‘last activity’ timestamp isn’t being recorded correctly for that user. @ceric, if you log in as that user and click around a few pages, does it fix the display?

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic Page layout and sidebar issues in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 11 months ago
I’m sure someone will be along with some more helpful advice, but for a quick reply — this is to be expected. BuddyPress is working as it currently is meant to, and ignores any of the theme options around page customisations.

You should have gotten a filename or line number along with the error message. I’m interested if it’s in a core BP file, or in another plugin, like Henry says.

Paul Gibbs updated the Version 1.9 page, on the BuddyPress Codex 10 years, 11 months ago
Version 1.9 is a major BuddyPress feature release. BuddyPress 1.9 introduces many new features and enhancements, on top of lots of bugfixes.
For Version 1.9, the database version (
_bp_db_version

Paul Wong-Gibbs commented on the post, BuddyPress 1.9 Beta 1 is now available!, on the site BuddyPress.org 10 years, 12 months ago
This item was moved to the 2.0 release/milestone because we realised we wouldn’t have enough time to finish building and testing the feature for the release. Can’t guarantee it’ll be in 2.0, but it’s likely since […]

I figured you were referring to the Activity table 🙂
Basically, we thought the way we do it now was a good solution several years ago. We were particularly concerned with how large the Activities DB table(s) might get, as we expect them (and probably still do) to be the tables with the largest amount of stored data as every other component adds…[Read more]

No direct way of bulk-editing profile fields; sounds dangerously powerful. If you are a PHP/WordPress developer, or know someone who is, I’d suggest writing a script to make these changes for you.

Depends on where you want your users to upload images. It sounds like you want a user gallery kind of feature?

Wrong. What specifically are you looking at? The Activity table?

Hello! This thread is mostly accurate, but just to wrap things up —
@jjj has been working at 10up.com since August, and I’ve been at Automattic since the beginning of 2013. John and I had been contributing to BuddyPress for years before we started at Automattic. Our day jobs don’t affect our contributions to BuddyPress, and as @henrywright-1…[Read more]

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic Bluehost suggested I ask about these tables in the forum Installing BuddyPress 11 years ago
If you want to use BuddyPress, then yes, you need these tables. Deleting these tables will cause all sorts of things to break. 3GB in activity seems extreme – be interesting to know what type of records are filling it up if you can get MySQL access.
