It’s *probably* another badly-written plugin that expects BuddyPress to be always active (and when a plugin is upgraded, they’re temporarily disabled), but we’ll need to see the contents in the error log to confirm.

If you’ve *edited* your current BuddyPress files, then this is a really good reason why it’s a bad idea to edit plugin files 😉

As Boone told you already, there are no known security issues with BuddyPress.

Looks like it was removed in BP 1.2, about three years ago. Not sure why.
