BuddyPress 1.7 does its best to integrate with any WordPress theme. It doesn’t matter whether you activate the theme before or after you activate the plugin 🙂

It is not efficient to get the total number of activities and display anywhere. If you are inside an Activity loop, you can use bp_get_activity_count(). If you are outside the Activity loop, I’d suggest changing your design.

The bug’s in the BP Courseware plugin. You need to contact its author for support.

I think bbPress plugin only, unless — by coincidence — the name of the event is shared (doubtful).
