@DJPaul I installed a plugin called confirm registration which is outdated, but works well in WordPress 3.1.2
and what it does holds new users account in pending until an administrator approves it.Well when you go in to approve the users you can only see the email and username. I want to
be able to see the group(s) that they are trying to join…[Read more] -

@djpaul @r-a-y @hnla Wow! Two Million Users at BuddyPress.org per stats at https://buddypress.org/community/activity/
-
Am I right in thinking this includes WP stats i.e it’s all one single user table, that be a very long table though, can imagine working in phpmyadmin loading that table and wandering off to have breakfast, shower, pop out to the shops, read the papers…
It’s the group stats that bug me, probably all of 100 real groups leaving 1,123 spammy…[Read more]

I’m thinking that the number is pure BP users – those who logged in BP.org. There are millions more WP.org registered users, I would imagine. Now if only more hardy souls would start contributing 🙂
I second your thoughts on restricting group creation. I’m itching to zap all those spammy groups I saw in the list 🙂

I’m of to count the members and check they’re genuine, I’ll report back towards the end of summer

Expecting a report at the end of August 😉

@djpaul will do. Do you know any other way of accomplishing this? Ultimately my goal is just to have all activity stream through one page (everything but the activity of your friends).

Won’t work currently. You can only show one “scope’ or all of them. I had tried to do what you are asking for a theme and it’s a BP core thing that needs added. @DJPaul suggested adding this request to trac.buddypress.org

@DJPaul I’ve done a little more research. Posting something through the WP backend triggered achievements on subsites OK, so it’s not a problem with Achievements per se. It works fine incrementing when a page or post is created from the backend. But my users post from the frontend. 😉 So on my testbed I tried using […]

@djpaul and @boonebgorges, I hear you about the caching. that is one big bonus. I can make big ugly queries and know that they’ll be cached. If I ‘roll by own’ then I’ll have to build caching myself (but it’s not that hard). I looked at the meta_query functions, and they seem quite sufficient for most queries, […]

@djpaul oh boy – I was hoping you wouldn’t say that! 😉 Can you tell me why you are re-writing it, and if you’ve started any difficulties you’ve encountered. Here is my initial db scheme with examples (initially visualized as a mysql table) rating_id – auto-generated object_id – id of object being rated. ie. post_id, group_id, […]
