I have it, now !global $bp, $members_template;
if ( bp_get_total_group_count_for_user( $members_template->member->id ) > 0 ) return true; else return false;

I apologize for not fully understanding the issue.
I disabled Buddypress per @DJpaul ‘s suggestion, and @r-a-y ‘s followup post explains how to approach this.

@DJPaul Paul, I just found buddypress and think it is perfect for what I need. However, I can’t seem to figure out how to allow members to sign in. When they do an email is never sent or received to allow them to subscribe. I am not a coding expert for sure, any ideas? My site is: http://www.stpaulsmidlandyouth.com Thanks.

Just re-looking at this thread 5 months later… Having the ability to cache avatars would be a huge load savings for all of us using CDNs… Any more progress or thoughts on this?
