    Thanks a bunch @danbp. Now off to figuring out how to get past the “user registration not allowed” issue and then I’ll good to go.

    Thanks again. 🙂

    @mercime Re: Looks like you deactivated bbPress. If you activate it again and cannot find the Forum Attribute box, then I suggest you try re-uploading bbPress via s/FTP or you can delete bbPress from the admin backend then install it again.

    The plug-in I’m using is not bbPress. It’s BuddyPress. So I found the tab where I would have been able to do the steps in instruction #7.”Go to Forum> Add New….etc” but it’s under the heading “retired” and it tells me in Buddypress to use bbPress for this particular feature. I don’t know if I should delete the BuddyPress plug-in all together and just use bbPress instead or just install the bbPress plug-in, activate and then pick up with instruction #7 from there.

    ,

    Thank you again for helping me. Ran into an obstacle. I am at the step of installing Group & Sitewide Forums. No. 7 of the instruction has me stuck. I stopped after adding the Forums page with the code in it to, to the menu. There is a picture to the right of the instruction depicting how step 7 should go, but I don’t ever see that screen when I try to do step 7. I even tried adding a new page called Group Forums and I don’t even see the option to change from ‘forum’ to ‘category’. See instructions below

    Create a new Forum as the “parent forum” for all of your Group Forums.
    • Go to Forums > Add New
    • Add Title, e.g. Group Forums
    • Change Forum Attribute Type from “Forum” to “Category”

    @mercime,

    Do you recommend I create text/content and install a form plug-in for my ‘register’ page associated with the BPress first before working on adding Member Profile Fields? It just doesn’t seem like it will solve the “user registration is currently not allowed” issue. Thank you for the link there on adding Member Profile Fields (I feel confident in doing that). It just dawned on me that my site should look like this in some ways because the BPress is in use.

    Hi @shivan-kumar,

    I visited CUNY Commons Academy and it appears to me like they have to create text and forms that go on each page, (I assume because I can only see their register page). What is buddy press for if you have to do all the work? I don’t understand the rest of what you said about adding the activity link.
