In reply to: BPLANG and .MO in 1.1.3Thanks Xevo
I’ll give it a go, thanks again David!
Hmm, perhaps I will just try to import user accounts then…
Regarding the FTP server, I don’t know, I have root access and can do practically everything on the server, however, for some reason I cannot get rid of these old files and directories.
EDIT: Looks like the uploaded DB deactivated my custom theme, so all I had to do was reactivate it and the site is back up now
. So far so good. Thanks everyone.
Hmm, maybe you can help me with this problem…
I imported my .sql backup and it imported successfully, however, when I load my website, it loads a blank page.
Any idea? haha
@Xevo and @DJPaul – I’ve tired both of these solutions, looks like I’ll have to contact my host, however, since I’m on a dedicated server, it’s harder to get support from GoDaddy for some reason

@DJPaul – I’ll see if I can import everything through phpMyAdmin and not lose any data!
@Andrea_r – By upgrading, I meant I decided to start over by deleting the DB and everything off the FTP and starting fresh, since I mistakenly edited the core files of the previous version of MU/BP and didn’t make it into a theme, so all my work was broken anyways for the new version.
Thanks for the help everyone
In reply to: Post your Twitter accountI post tons of useless crap
In reply to: Google Friend Connect ?Google owns Blogspot, which is why they have Google Friend Connect.
Can you explain a bit more on the process of making a child theme? I too would love to have the member blogs have an integrated look and feel into the default buddypress theme – NOT the ugly WordPressMU blue theme :p.
Thanks
In reply to: New BP Chat plugin for BuddypressThis plug-in / feature is probably the most sought after. Maybe at some point Andy will take the time to integrate chat into a future release of BP down the road.
You can’t really have a social network w/o chat these days. MySpace, FaceBook, OkCupid, all have it.
In reply to: User disabled blog but now wants to create but can'tThank you Brajesh, that works
In reply to: Trying to embed a swf bannerIt didn’t work, so I scrapped the swf banner idea and went with a jpg instead. Perhaps I’ll revisit it a little later down the road.
Just trying to get my site up and as function as possible as we just went live w/ open beta a few days ago
.
In reply to: Trying to embed a swf bannerHmm installed unfiltered, but I don’t see options anywhere for it? It doesn’t show up after activating that I can see.
Thanks, I needed this too
In reply to: give each blog their own buddypress? So as the screenshots on the BP homepage show, will it be possible for every member to have their blog integrated into the main site? I don’t like how when they register a blog it kicks them to what looks like Kubrick or w/e the default MU theme is.
I don’t want members to even have the ability to pick another theme, just have it created within the BP home theme/blog.
In reply to: give each blog their own buddypress?Gotcha, it’s a little confusing what you were trying to say earlier…

It sounds like you’re going to need to write a script that will install mu/bp on the fly for everything member in their own section. I don’t think the way they are coded now you will be able to achieve what you are wanting.
In reply to: give each blog their own buddypress?Much like Anointed, I would like my members to have their blogs integrated into the BP site. Right now a new member blog is created using the plain default WP theme and does not keep the look and feel of the site.
On the BP website, I’ve seen screenshots where it looks like the blogs are integrated/have the same theme. Why is my install doing it differently? I want my users to create blogs, but have them actually look like they are a part of the site, not a separate entity altogether.
I posed this question in another thread I believe, but then my original handle went MIA in these forums, so I’ve had to create a new one and have since lost the thread.
In reply to: How to: Make drop down menu from nav?aye, im gathering that, lol…
thanks for the help
In reply to: How to: Make drop down menu from nav?Hmm so I tried to add it on http://www.fanspeak.com but its not aligning properly and its reduced the size of the link ‘buttons’.
I’ve tried editing the suckerfish css files but I keep breaking it. Anyone know how to align it right underneath the main link and not style it differently than the default style of the theme without breaking it?
In reply to: P and BR tags not working in text/welcome widgetYup, I’m using the Text (Arbitrary text and html) widget. No tags have worked with it.
I only have 4 plug-ins running at the moment.
– BP itself
– Welcome Pack (thanks DJPaul
)– BP PictureAlbum
– BP Signup TOS
You’re more than welcome to poke about my site if that helps to troubleshoot
In reply to: P and BR tags not working in text/welcome widgetOh ok. Do you know why the text/html widget that also comes with wordpress does NOT work as intended? It won’t even include the automatic p tags when enabled.
Thanks DJPaul
I’m running WPMU 2.8.4a and BP 1.03.
In reply to: How to: Make drop down menu from nav?Thank you
.I will try this tonight.
In reply to: P and BR tags not working in text/welcome widgetWhy does it say Text/HTML on the widget description then
