    Jeff:

    1. I’m using Facebuddy theme, but it is only CSS changes, so I don’t believe it could possibly cause the problem.

    2. Running PHP5

    3. My GD version is 2.0.28.

I’ve had a few users install Firefox and they were then able to properly upload and crop their avatars. The strange thing is that it looks like it is working, but once the final crop is done it goes black.

IE 6 and IE 7. I can only test at work since I run Linux at home, but I can try other browsers at some point.

Any idea at all what direction I could take to start troubleshooting?

    Jeff:

I’ve read through every thread on here that even mentions avatars. ;-)

I’m currently running BP v1.0, WPMU v2.7.1. I started with BP RC1 and WPMU v2.7, then upgraded to WPMU v2.7.1 and BP RC2. I’m running PHP v5 and I’m not sure about the GD version. I’d have to look into that further. I’ve looked at my error log and see nothing.

What I do know, is that I can recreate the problem in IE but Firefox users seem to be OK.

    Interesting. Thanks for checking.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can look at to fix this? I requested friendship with someone again just to see what happens.

Am I the only one seeing this issue?

What was done to resolve this issue?

I’m having the exact same problem.

I too have users experiencing the “black” avatar issue. I personally don’t have an issue, but I’m starting to think it is maybe an IE issue (I use Firefox). Some of my users have no issue and some do. I’m asking them to let me know what browser they are using.

    Any ideas?
