    Minify broke my site – issues with the javascript, so I’ve switched it off

    I’ve gone from a page speed score of 63 to 83 using the points above and am seeing what else I can trim off

    I also switched off a twitter plugin BuddyPress Tweet Button that put buttons next to most activity items, contacting twitter always seemed to slow things down

    @imjscn it is indeed, which is why I am trying out FV Gravatar Cache to cache them locally and then run a regular cron job to recache

    If you are an administration of the group, then go to the group > admin > email options

    @jakel I did ask the developer about being able to fill in the registration form, but his response was “only autoregistration is supported. It’s on my to-do list for eventual implementation, no time estimate yet though.”

    I’m sure it’s possible, although I know I don’t have the skills to do it.

    @r-a-y in response to your edit, currently when a new user is added with the fb plugin they don’t appear as a new user in the activity stream, would this also be solved by using bp_core_activated_user ?

    @r-a-y great thanks :)

    I’d like to say the work that that plugin developers do for nothing is great.
    I am choosing not to upgrade my WP and BP for the moment because during the testing of my own specific set of plugins on my development environment I found some of them didn’t work, which such a big upgrade is somewhat to be expected.
    My site works for now, so there is no rush to upgrade.
    I’ll keep on eye on those plugins for if and when they are updated and take the step to upgrade at a later date.

    It’s so tempting to press that button (those update messages really nag at you), but I’m going to hold off until I have tested all my plugins and have a good window of time in case something goes wrong

    @boonebgorges great, thanks, I look forward to it

    @modemlooper most definitely not – although I did hit upgrade on a dev site and unsurprisingly it broke it, I can’t see the new sparkly dashboard – but I can see the admin bar!

    @svc yup it did have issues, which seems because the developer didn’t create it for buddypress, but he did come up with a solution that seems to work for me. I have been through the guide on etivite and I couldn’t get it to work, I will try again through

    I had some great help from the developer of the plugin (over here: http://online-source.net/2010/10/24/markitup-html-set-for-wordpress) who made some tweaks and I now have this working on my buddypress site

    I’m currently trying out this method to stop the submit button being hit more than once http://henrik.nyh.se/2008/07/jquery-double-submission

    This issue is definitely not going away, maybe it needs something to check for duplicate posts before they go into the database? :-S

    @luvs the only tweaks I made were to the set of icons used, this plugin should add the set to all text areas – it may be something to do with your theme, have you tested it out on a different theme?

    One issue I have found with this is to do with the javascript it loads – this conflicts with image cropping on avatars. This is likely what is happening to your other plugin if it uses javascript

    @luvs123 @gunju2221 Try this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/markitup-html-set-for-wordpress I have used it with some tweaking on my site and it’s great

    so this bit of code from @r-a-y seems to let me see the group activity but redirect to forum as default: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/changing-group-tab-display-defaults/#post-55449

    I have tried this which is great, but it also means that clicking home always takes you to the forum tab, so now there is no way of seeing the group activity – does anyone know how I can change this?
    Thanks

    @boonebgorges d’oh I should have looked there – thanks

    I’m pretty interested in this too, I had my members set as “members” but have just noticed this has allowed someone to submit a blog post to the site which I don’t want.

    @r-a-y thanks, I will give it a go

    Hi @r-a-y thanks for the message, but that seems to return the variable as plain text too, hmmmm?

    @ewebber

    @suchaqd – yes I have already done that, but it’s a bit manual

    @crashutah – I am guessing it is to do with spam – I will think about whether or not to do it, thanks.

    I’m getting an error that just makes my whole site blank – Does anyone know of another way of allowing users to invite people by twitter?
