Re: “Can you make the plugin mobile friendly for iphone & android phones to display easily ?”

Please give us some guidance on what you would like the plugin to do to help accomplish this.

    Thanks!

Welcome to the translation team. We will contact you when the next “stable” is ready to release.

@coffeeholic – In that case, it appears the files on your server did not get updated properly. In the updated file, that line reads “‘screen_function’ => ‘bp_album_screen_album_home’,”

Some web hosts prevent FTP uploads from overwriting existing files as a safety measure.

Flat-out delete the files, delete the bp-album directory, and re-upload the new plugin files. Then download “bp-album-core.php” file and verify line #320 reads as it should.

    Thanks!

@paulhastings0 – lol yes, of course. We’re saving *that* feature for “a few releases out”, because it’s in our pitch to Google for funding under their SoC program. Of course, keep in mind how frequently we release. (Nine times in the last 4 weeks)

Note also that YouTube now inserts ads in ALL of their videos, and they block embedding on a lot of them, as do many other streaming video sites.

In 2008, Youtube, Revver, and friends were a “slam dunk” solution for getting video on your site …things are a bit more complicated in 2010. :)

What does line #320 in “bp-album-core.php” in the “bp-album” folder say?

(The line starts with “‘screen_function’ =>….”

@Gene53 – yes just overwrite the plugin files. No db changes required.

Okay, well I’m testing on WPMU, so I’ll start by loading up a WP single install and see if that triggers the problem.

Okay, clearly there’s something wrong in the plugin code, so I’m going to have to figure out:

    a) What your systems have in common, and

    b) What’s different between your systems and my system (because obviously it works on my system …lol).

So, some questions for all four of you:

    1) What OS is your server running on (linux, windows, etc)

    2) What OS is your browser operating on?

    3) What browsers have you tried, and what happened in them (Opera, Safari, FireFox, IE, and Chrome)

    4) What version of WP are you using. Is it single or MU?

    5) Do you have any other plugins running? What are they? Does it still crash when you disable them?

    6) Can you please post a copy of your wp error log file. Located in the /wp-admin/er-logs/ directory.

    7) Can you please post a copy of your apache error log file. If you’re testing on xampp it’s located in xampp/apache/logs/error.log If you’re testing on a web host, you’ll need to download or ask them for a copy.

If you guys give us good debugging info, hopefully we can get this nailed in a couple of hours.

    Thanks!

@paulhastings0 – probably in a week or two.

We need this plugin just as badly for *our* sites as you need it for yours… :)

    7) If you have made custom/modified templates for BP Album+, delete the contents of your child template folder.

    8) Clear the contents of your FireFox and Opera caches, and RESTART the browsers.

    What happens?

Also, what happens when you view the page in IE?

@Gene53 and @ajohnson – it sounds like you forgot to wipe-out your previous BP Album+ install before installing the new 0.1.9.1 beta.

If you’re just joining the thread, the beta can be downloaded here:

    https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/bp-album/branches/foxly/0.1.9.1/bp-album-BETA-0-1-9-1.zip

Trying to install the 0.1.9.1 beta over top of an existing BP Album+ installation will cause an error.

Although RELEASE versions of the plugin will *automatically* upgrade any previous BP Album+ version, beta versions will not. It would be far too time consuming to write an upgrade script for every beta release.

So, to install the beta, either start with a fresh wp/bp install on your development system (we use a script for this so it takes us 5 seconds to do). Or, if you’re doing things manually:

    1) Deactivate the plugin

    2) Use phpMyAdmin to DROP the “wp_bp_album”, “wp_bp_album_albums”, and “wp_bp_album_meta” tables

    3) Delete the bp-album plugin folder

    4) (optional) Delete the “…/wp-content/blogs.dir/…/files/album/” directory

    5) Copy the new bp-album folder into the plugins directory

    6) Activate and enjoy!

    Thanks!

@Gene53 – all versions of BP Album+ (if you want them to) will limit the size of file uploads. Just set the maximum upload file size in wp to whatever you want to limit an upload’s size to.

Now on the other hand, if you’re talking about a *disk quota* where a user is allotted X megabytes of storage and can upload as many files as they want until they run out of space… that’s coming soon… because it will be necessary for video content.

@Andy Peatling fair enough. We’ve updated the code in the current stable release, and also the 0.1.9.1 beta we posted yesterday (*now with albums* …yay!).

Please make sure any posts regarding this problem are updated.

    Thanks!

@Gpo1 – have a look at the beta we just posted here. It will probably solve your problem.

@Gene53 – we’re adding sorting options and javascript drag-and-drop image re-ordering in the very near future. The beta posted above sorts images newest-to-oldest by default. So it already does what you want.

    Thanks!
