@whyknott, are you using bbPress or only BuddyPress. I didn’t see anything in what you posted above that would disable bbPress feeds.

• i do not have this setting set anywhere.
• i do not have plugins installed that would cause such functionality.

you need to debug a bit, try deactivating plugins and change themes to verify those are not causing the problem.

my best suggestion is to try and reinstall WordPress and BuddyPress & bbPress manually via ftp.
If that doesn’t work, you’re best bet is to reinstall the most recent versions of those (before the upgrade of course) and then upload your most recent .sql backup via phpmyadmin to restore your site pre-upgrade.
