Any chance this could be added to Custom Profile Filters?As a work-around, I wonder if I could use this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-xprofiles-acl/ to assign roles based on the profile field answer.
Then I could more easily show different sidebars depending on roles.
Not the cleanest way to do it. Has anyone else had trouble with checkboxes?
@pcwriter @johnjamesjacoby
Yup. Bug is definitely still there. Nice find!The politest of bumps…
Looks much cleaner, but still isn’t working. I tried using a radio button and that didn’t work either.
What I’m trying to do should be simple

If you are a professional, you get one sidebar. If you are a civilian, you get another. And I’ve got a checkbox on the registration form.
Thanks for all of your help so far you guys…
‘if($type_member == ‘Yes’)…`
Either way, even if I create a second function, It isn’t recognizing the profile field.
This seems fishy to me. Is $type_member really the way to call a profile field entry? Or could it be a checkbox issue?
@pcwriter – replacing “Yes” with “1” didn’t work – was that what you meant?
@nahummadrid – yes, that works.
Thanks @nahummadrid
I think it’s closer but still not working right. It only shows “Some other Sidebar”.
Here’s my code:
`//CHECK IF THE ACCT IS CERTAIN ACCT TYPE
function My_Function ($user_id) {
global $bp;
$type_member = xprofile_get_field_data( ‘Real Estate Industry Professional’, $user_id );
if($type_member == ‘Yes’) {
return true;
} else {
return false;
}
}`I wonder if the issue is that I’m using a checkbox, with the option of “Yes”…
Trying to call the loggedin_user_id, but doing to wrong…
`loggedin_user->id) && bp_get_profile_field_data(‘field=783’) === “Yes”) : ?>
sample code
`Here’s the code I’m trying to use in my sidebar:

Did you ever figure this out? I’m trying to do the same thing…Here’s the article… http://yoast.com/wordpress-rel-author-rel-me
Here’s an article by Yoast where we explains how to add rel=”me” to standard WP profiles. Any thoughts on how we could incorporate this into BP Profiles?
I’m assuming it could be as simple as a short snip of code that adds the attribute to the profile field, but maybe it’s more complicated…
Thanks patrick…
Playing with this more, it looks like there are 2 parts to making this work. First, we need rel=”author” attributes on all of the links that go to the profile pages. entry.php, single.php, etc. Second, there should be a link from the profile page to a member’s google profile, with a rel=”me” attribute.
In reply to: Letting the user upload a custom background?Has anyone tried using the farbtastic color picker with buddypress?

I used your extra snip to change the plugin to affect the container div. Works perfectly.
-GregIn reply to: BP Global Redirect QuestionI had taken the short snip of code from this plugin https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-profile-as-homepage/ and I put this in my functions.php:
`function bp_profile_homepage()
{
global $bp;
if(is_user_logged_in() && bp_is_front_page())
{
wp_redirect( $bp->root_domain . ‘/’ . $bp->activity->slug );
}
}
function logout_redirection()
{
global $bp;
$redirect = $bp->root_domain;
wp_logout_url( $redirect );
}
add_action(‘wp’,’bp_profile_homepage’);
add_action(‘wp_logout’,’logout_redirection’);`That redirects users to site.com/activity
In reply to: BP Global Redirect QuestionWorks. Thanks Boone!
In reply to: Letting the user upload a custom background?Probably should be an option to delete the background image.
Any chance of adding a color picker option?Brajesh built a plugin for this. It works great if anyone else is interested:
Show BuddyPress community(sitewide) activity on User Profile
In reply to: BP Enable Root Profiles produces 404 errorsIt’s not that the profiles are broken, but that the activity and @mention permalinks for prior events aren’t updated. New activity will have the correct, new link, while prior activity links will be broken.
I’ll let you know if I have any more luck with this!
