In reply to: How to add MarkItUp! Is there an easy way?
I am not going to use that plugin, I have markitup now running on the textareas through my database, with no plugin through a clean install following this guide: http://etivite.com/groups/buddypress/forum/topic/quick-tip-adding-markitup-to-group-forum-textareas/#topic
That plugin has corrupt jquery problems.
In reply to: word limit for all user updatesMay be simple or hard, depending on you, but it can be achieved, through some jquery
This is just off the top of my head in post-form.php in your theme
`function textLimit(field, maxlen) {
if (field.value.length > maxlen + 1)
alert(‘To much Text!’);
if (field.value.length > maxlen)
field.value = field.value.substring(0, maxlen);
}`now the textarea:
`<textarea cols="20" rows="2" value=""
onkeyup=”textLimit(this, 40);”>`Set “40” to limit
In reply to: HTML/Javascript in Admin barYou will have to branch the facebook login with buddypress first, you can do this through a plugin.
Than you would take do action hook from the plugin and place it in the admin bar, 2 choices of doing so, in bp-core, or bp-custom
In reply to: Members ListLink to site?
In reply to: Gravatar cropping tool not showingAre you using custom or default theme?
-If using custom, switch to the default and see if it fixes it
In reply to: Help for What’s New Textareas Autofill TextjQuery is fine with me, probably better, weather to hook the js code into the file, or put it in an external file and call it. Problem is, I am still stuck on the textarea ID values. It still remains the same input text, only set once. Unless I put to more js in the file with different IDs, same js
Maybe something in the range of:
`$(selector).defaultValue(‘Username’);
`or
`
$(‘#myInput’).defaultValue();`In reply to: control location of error messagesI can tell you, that it’s not defined as bp_core_add_message.
The messages are a Div class defined in default CSS from buddypress. And the messages are placed in the same position in the php file in every instance you are seeing. There is no universal function for this.
This is your THIRD post you have made on this problem.
In reply to: control location of error messagesYou will have to manually move all of the `<div class="error"` In the bp-core, avatar uploads.php to the locations of your liking in the file.
I am aware of this, Arras theme is a toughie one. Once I get the time I will contact the theme author of Arras
In reply to: BuddyPress PrivacyOh, no. Sorry, Were confusing each-other.

Your fine, just a few tips for this forum. If a mod closes a topic, don’t just re-create another one that duplicates the one that was closed. The mods close it for a reason, to end further discussion about it.
In reply to: BuddyPress PrivacyAs you said in your first post.
Now that it looks like the long awaited bp-privacy will never be released
we are doing our best to see what is best for BP. As for the time being, just search for some related content on google. You would be amazed on what you can find when you do a simple search.
Additionally, when a Mod closes a topic, it’s best if you don’t just create another one
In reply to: CSS for @username buttonWell it depends on what css you are using. The buttons on the profiles are css from the default bp, or other css files you are using.
You can easily edit the styles of these by adding or editing:
`a.button, input[type=submit], input[type=button], input[type=reset],
ul.button-nav li a, div.generic-button a {`In reply to: BuddyPress PrivacyDo NOT re-create posts please, this is a duplicate post, from the previous one.
Do not put the guilt on us, as we are doing our best to see what is best for BP. You can certainly add an enhancement ticket over at Buddypress Trac
Actually Bigjimmysisco, what theme are you using?
Weird coincidence, maybe we have the same weird missing JS, My custom images don’t load on crop page either.
I changed my avatar on my site for the first time and noticed this.
I will do some troubleshooting on it, because It is certainly the theme.
@boonebgorges I will create a dummy account on my site as “guest” and you can do troubleshooting on there, if you would like. maybe it will work on BJS’s theme also.
In reply to: Image Scroller with textI am pretty sick of people using this as a wordpress help forum.
WordPress support is here please!
In reply to: RSS Error in DashboardIs this really an issue with buddypress? Buddypress does not break RSS.
Provide more details so we can see if it’s bp-related
In reply to: Help Please!! Can’t Create GroupsDo you have Group Creation Enabled in the /wp-admin section of buddypress settings?
If they are enabled, and you still can’t create groups, go to yoursite.com/groups/create and tell me what it does.
And, a link to your site would be helpful.
In reply to: bbpress/buddypressThe buddypress forums are actually bbpress wired. They are mainly the same concept so yes.
In reply to: sorting businesses into categories????You could have each user create their business within a bp-group, and use the group forums to display the accolades and specials.
In reply to: bpckeditor misses smileysGo to the Bpckeditor Plugin Group and Ask for support there: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bpckeditor/
In reply to: Texarea SizeBy editing the Activity Stream Reply to fit your theme
This is what your looking to edit.`div.activity-comments form.ac-form {
display: none;
margin: 10px 0 10px 33px;
background: #fafafa;
border: 1px solid #ddd;
-moz-border-radius: 4px;
-webkit-border-radius: 4px;
border-radius: 4px;
padding: 8px;`You must go and find that Rule, or add it to your theme and edit it to how you like
In reply to: Making my hompage a blogUsing my previous link, up in etivite, all you do is put the code in the bp-custom.php file, and you have the widget.
