That’s a huge list of plugins. My first thought is that the problem will be related to one of those. If that’s not the case, then the problem is likely to be your set-up. The easiest option in this case would be to set up a test site, activate all of those plugins and then do some testing to see if you can reproduce the problem.

If you remove all custom code you’ve added, activate Twenty Fifteen and disable all plugins aside from BP, does the admin bar still fail to display?

Like the comment count, I’m not sure there’s anything for mentions either. The function responsible for outputting the count you currently see for ‘unseen’ mentions is bp_activity_format_notifications(). It accepts 5 parameters, one of them being $total_items. That variable is what’s used when outputting the text “You have X new mentions”.

The stay-on-page prompt isn’t a BuddyPress thing. I think it’s coming from your browser. Alternatively, it might be from a plugin, if you have a plugin installed with that kind of functionality.

bp_friend_get_total_requests_count(), bp_notifications_get_unread_notification_count() and messages_get_unread_count() are actually functions. I do believe each returns a count. Regarding comments, are you looking for a function that gets the comment count?

I want the member sites (subsites, http:example.com/blogs) , to use the same theme (header,footer,etc) as the main site, and not open as a separate site.

You can manage that kind of thing from the Network Admin Themes Screen.

Regarding the left and right arrows, BuddyPress doesn’t support that kind of form element ‘out-of-the-box’. I’m not even sure it’s a HTML element? You’ll most probably need to use JavaScript to accomplish that.

You wouldn’t necessarily need to hook into BuddyPress functions. Instead, the main thing to do would be to upload the file, associate that file with a BuddyPress member, and record any associated data for that upload (the user’s choice from your option list).

Check out the Attachments API (which is currently in the pipeline and should be available in the 2.3 release). As you’ll see, this kind of thing will be far easier going forward.

You seem to be doing everything right. Disabling plugins and reverting to the default theme (Twenty somethings) usually resolves the problem.

Are you seeing the problem on both localhost and on your online server?
