A password confirmation is not a barrier to entry it’s a ‘Best Practise’ to be honest if you have users put of by having to enter passwords twice you are probably better off without them 🙂

That Username Availibilty Checker has been incorporated into the bp-xtra-signup plugin by Travel-Junkie which also provides password strength feedback. This is a plugin I would recommend people make use of.

However this issue is not ‘Username’ as there can’t be the same username twice

Haven’t got users smart enough to have figured it out, oops perhaps oughtn’t to cast dispersions on our userbase 🙂

Sort of thing that’s best prevented where possible.
