It’s a problem with the theme, revert to using bp-default theme to check the function does work as expected. Questions regarding third party themes are best asked on the themes support forums.

That’s a custom third party theme (genesis) activate BP default theme, does ‘Load more’, pagination work? if so then it’s a theme problem and you’ll need to ask on Genesis support.
