Don’t suppose you have any insights into why it’s still not adding the entry to the Show menu?

This is not possible. Its a multisite with multiple users having individual blogs. Some may choose to use manual excerpt, some may choose to use
<!-- more -->

Can you please explain a little more kindly?

If I have understood right, I was not managing the number of viewed comments – it was automatically being managed by the BP code. Yes these are custom elements. The blinking cursor going down in text-area happens due to bp checkins. The problem seems to be each plugin using its own rule/css/whatever when it comes to using this whats-new posting area – apparently codex has no protocol which plugins should adhere to.

@hnla that’s even more of a good idea if the site in question has many plugins installed. There’s simply no way of knowing how some plugins will interact with a new version of BP unless they’ve been tested. My advice is, don’t rely on the plugin developer to do it. Instead, set up a test install and do it yourself! Before go live.

There’s no real reason, other than knowing exactly what my theme is doing and what it’s outputting in each scenario. I appreciate it’s a little idiosyncratic but it’s just how I do it.

If I do let buddypress.js by default, how would I make it sing nicely with this theme which is shrouded with custom markup?

Appreciate any help offered, @hnla thank you.

@hnla good spot. I took the example from the WP Codex article I referenced in my post. Do you want to update or should I?
