Ok I got it! It was the “Enable Hide Backend” that was causing everything to go wrong. I don’t even need it on thanks to the “User Role Editor” so I guess everything is fine. Now I just need to work out why the thumbnails on the main page sometimes appears and other times it doesn’t but that isn’t down to BuddyPress, that much I know!

Again sorry for my anger but after losing all my site’s data once before because of a stupid mistake, I was a little on edge.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me!

I can’t wait to get http://www.caiminds.com fully operational again to make it a great source of entertainment and I’m going to do it thanks to BuddyPress. (Was that 2 shameless plugs in one paragraph? I think it was!)

I’ve got it! It was Better WP Security causing the problems. Just turned it off and it worked.

Now need to figure out which settings is causing it.

I feel really bad for the title of this topic. Sorry! But that’s what you get when you cross a novice with an idiot. 😛

it results in a re directional loop. And yes I know it will redirect to the home page when I’m logged in.

Looks like I owe an apology. It seems a reinstall has fixed some issues I had, including slow page speed loads and I forgot the widget was part of bbpress and not buddypress and the install must have deleted it.

The only issue that remains is the register page still results in a redirect loop.

I back up every time I’m about to install a new plugin or update one or every week so there is no problems there. I will try this

Login was never a widget, it was hardcoded to the sidebar in bp-default and still is so copy it from the sidebar.php in /bp-themes/bp-default/ to your themes sidebar.

Thanks I will give that a go. It just confused me when it disapeared after the update.

No answer to your registration issue my local installs don’t appear to have any issues, you may need to provide a little more detail.

I’m not sure what more detail I can give. Just the /register now results in a redirect loop even after switching permalink settings.

It took me hours to figure out which files I needed to change in order just to log into the admin dashboard!
why? You can always login via wp-login.php and navigate to dashboard with /wp-admin/

That was my first point of call, but every one of them resulted in a 404. It wasn’t until I tried the login in part at the comment section did it then allow me to log in at the defult wordpress login screen.

Also I think I have fixed the admin bar. Just turned it on and off again.

If you want to take a look, doubt it would help but here is the site in question: http://www.caiminds.com

The log in widget has also disappeared. Could it be a temporary solution for the recent forced password log ins?

    I FIXED IT! YAY!

For some reason, my activate page wasn’t selected despite me doing it when I started.

I guess an update unclipped it.

    Thanks anyway!

    All permlinks are fine.

I have disabled my redirect, welcome pack and login lock plugins which could have affected it. No joy :(

    Also my site is http://www.caiminds.com

I have another problem. Everything is now fine. All pages are responsive and the layouts are fine.

But my forums look unattractive. The sub forum menus are fine and the topics are fine but the main forum menu looks terrible. http://www.caiminds.com/forums

    Any suggestions?

Hey! Sorry for the long reply but I’ve been WAY TOO BUSY lately!

Thanks very much! It worked and your easy to ready instructions made it go so smoothly!

Thanks! Now I just need to work out how to effect the layout of a buddypress forum and my site is SET! :D

Does that mean I have to delete the theme and reupload the same theme but with the added 2 files or can I do it all within wordpress?
