Problem solved. The reason Public Message was redirecting me to a 404 error is because I did not have Activity Stream set up. At first I did not want it but now its best to keep it.
Thanks
J@mercime I still can’t figure it out as of right now. I have deactivated my plugins, deactivated my theme, deleted my theme and manually re-installed it and that didn’t work either. I recently switched hosting companies do you think that has something to do with it?
Sorry, I am using the Sweet Date theme by themeforest. Once I activate BP default the same thing happenes. But now I’ve deactivated all plugins except Buddypress and I cant even view profiles, the 404 message comes up. My permalinks are set to day and name and everything else looks fine just cant figure it out.
Ok, hopefully they can fix it I like this theme. Thank you!
It just happened again with christianmingle.com popping up this is crazy
Yup I tried that and nothing happened. It happens randomly when making a click. I told support of the theme but they said that’s strange and could be a plugin issue. Weird.
I have just started using a new theme I purchased a couple weeks ago. Its the Sweet Date Theme from Themeforest, a legit company. Before I was using the BP Default theme and never had this problem. I am using all BP plugins (8) and others like Wanguard, Mail From, Akismet, W3 Total Cache, All In One SEO, and Sitewide Newsletters.
I figured that part out under BP Pages. But now after the user logs in they are asked for an activation key.
I’ve tried deactivating plugins and reactivating one by one. My theme needs to be manually updated do you think that could be the problem?
Solved it. BP>Settings>Pages>Activate>None!
Ok. I’m having trouble with their support system that’s why I asked here. I’ll figure it out thank you.
Ok, that makes sense. I’ll test it you thank you all!
Sweet. Thank you!
Thank you!
Ok. My widgets arent there and I deleted them and then replaced them and saved them but I’ll figure it out. Thank you!
@mercime but my footer only shows in Chrome and not other browsers?
@mercime Please excuse me as my mind was all over the place and my problem was I didnt reactivate the BP default theme haha! Thank you for your help.
@mercime I see the bp-default in my server with a favicon.co and style.css folder. That is all. When viewing my site my banner, footer, background, and side bar login-registration page is gone and my site is white. I made a backup before I did this but it is not uploading to my public_html folder. Everything I had originally is gone.
Correction, I deleted BP and then reuploaded it. @mercime
Ok. I deleted the buddypress plugin and my site is white and my header, background, footer, and login in gone. I made a zip file backup on my desktop but I cant seem to restore it to the original state. I went into my hosting and restored it from yesterday but it didnt do anything what should I do? Thank you.
Does that mean the folder still isnt there? should I deactivate BP Default theme then reactivate?
Ya thats what I was thinking, here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrS33H2kMso
I just updated BP would that put the folder back in? I’ve just made a style.css and in the themes section my child theme doesnt show up it says:
bp-child theme: The parent theme is missing. Please install the “BuddyPress Default” parent theme
bp-default: template missing
Problem resolved. After updating BP yesterday the code went away thank you for the reply tho!
Sorry for the late reply. I am using the BP default theme and it does still show up on the registration page.
Ok. I had I had the Extended setting plugin already. It worked thank you!
