I don’t believe Giving WordPress its own directory works with BuddyPress showing up in the root when your WP is actually in the directory. Much like WP Multisite won’t work when you give WP its own directory. Calling on devs @DJPaul @boonebgorges @johnjamesjacoby. Is this a warning we should also add in Codex?

I now see that an almost exact post to mine was posted on bbpress by someone else and they were not marked as a spammer. Being ignored here and there is too discouraging – I’m done for now. Energies can be directed elsewhere.Best of luck on the bbpress plugin and BuddyPress. I’ll go elsewhere. No worries.

@johnjamesjacoby Hi John,
Caroline Golon suggested we connect with you about our community site (yup, I’m a rank newby at both WordPress and BuddyPress). I figured joining and using the tools here would be a good way to get comfortable and learn.
So, for starters, how do I get my avatar photo to display here? Tried both uploading the image…[Read more]

Guess my posts were not loved on bbpress thread. I’m now marked as a spammer. Nice to feel the love . 🙂

Any thoughts on why my posts were marked as spam?
I’m beginning to become insulted that I was marked as a spammer on bbpress.org. Your help would be appreciated in getting this cleared up. After all, I wanted to help with the bbpress plugin in terms of buddypress integration.

No reason to be insulted. Akismet marked you as a false positive. I unspammed your two replies, and you’re good to go.

@johnjamesjacoby Hi, can I use WP MultiNetwork to function as if BuddyPress were multisite? I plan on having many subdomains at savvysocialmkt.com. I would like to configure it like subdomain1.savvysocialmkt.com/members
subdomain2.savvysocialmkt.com/members
where each subdomain has its own “social network” using BuddyPress. Will this work or do…[Read more] -

@djpaul ok, so what is the quick fix to make this work? I looked at the track/path and @johnjamesjacoby says revisit in 1.3…. how can I make the above work now in the site… it’s pretty annoying as not only is the picture larger, but it force the text entry to be smaller and below the picture…. […]

@johnjamesjacoby Hi, John! I’m eager to start integrating BuddyPress into some upcoming sites, but am stopped cold by its incompatibility with WP 3.1a.
I hope that can be fixed sooner rather than later – any chance? *crosses fingers*

Did you ever get any response about buddypress compatibility with WP3.0+ ?
I’m in the same boat as you. I’d like to use buddypress for a couple of upcoming projects but I wont be doing so till it is compatible with WP 3.0+
-
Just to be clear, my question was about BP compatibility with the bleeding-edge 3.1 alpha, not the current stable 3.0.x release. I believe the current BP works on WP 3.0.
I did get an answer: This is due to a change in coding requirements on the WP end, and requires corresponding changes on the BP end. Unfortunately, the changes are non-trivial,…[Read more]

Ok I was unclear on that. I try to keep my stuff up to the latest version of WP and it looks like the extra features of BP 1.3 will be worth the wait. I was really looking at what the ETA for BP 1.3 is likely to be. Maybe a nice new year present 🙂

Full site visitbility, no blocked search engine.
Upgraded to 1.6 and the issue still there. Last time was working was pre 1.5 I think. I also notice same problem on testbp.org

Am curious to see what you did… I only included the “/” after the URL when I created the App and it works for me. Are you able to import and export to facebook now?
I’m assuming you downloaded the non-working version from buddypress and not the working one from buddystream with regard to the zip?

@johnjamesjacoby Hi,
Paul Hasting has suggested that I sent you the following:
The City of Montréal (Québec-Canada) is testing an instance of BP for use in its IT intranet (400 users) and, if successful, this tool will be extended to our 15 000 users.
We have a (very small) development team on the project and wish to add several useful f…[Read more]
