    There are now at least 5 other topics opened with this exact same problem.

    You did everything correctly but search for anyone else having this issue. :)

    This will be repaired with BuddyPress 1.0.3 when it is released.

    Currently BuddyPress 1.0.2 is only compatible with WPMU 2.7.1.

    I don’t use XAMPP, but WAMP should be pretty much the same.

    Can you confirm you ever had cookies working successfully? Even before bbPress? Sounds silly to check, but lets make sure it’s working correctly without bbPress.

    Do you have the BuddyPress bbPress Integration plugin on the bbPress side? Do you have the bbPress Integration plugin on the WordPress side?

    If yes and yes, the next round of trouble shooting is to make sure you have your edits exactly like the plugins say to have them.

    Since you’re using MU 2.7.1, you need to have

    define('WP_AUTH_COOKIE_VERSION', 1);

    in your bb-config.php. This will tell bbPress how to handle your integration cookies.

    That’s about all I can recommend for now?

    @Russel Crosswy, the reason deep integration doesn’t work when you use your http:// method is because you cannot include an external PHP script, you can only do it via an internal method. As soon as it crosses the HTTP, the file will exist but not get included by the server, so you’re not actually including that file at all.

    Which version of WPMU are you using?

    @Rohan, I’m curious to setup something like you have because it’s something I’d like to have eventually for myself also. I’m afraid I won’t have time today to set it up, but it is on my list of things to figure out.

    There are quite a few places where WPMU 2.8.1 doesn’t allow for filtering particular hooks for security reasons, some of which BuddyPress relied on using; has to do with the new _transient functions would be my guess, but I haven’t figured out exactly where to start patching.

    @Rohan Kapoor, sorry pal I do not yet, and I probably won’t have a chance to setup a similar installation until tomorrow. Hope you don’t mind waiting until then?

    @ipstenu, I really dislike core edits, so hopefully this makes it into 2.8.2. Glad you got it working though, I was starting to think I was crazy. :)

    Did you modify two files, in a total of 4 places?

    Are you using deep integration, or normal?

    Well, the only reason for you to use BuddyPress would be if you intend on offering any kind of user centered features in the future. As it sits right now, it sounds like you’ve got exactly what you want, but in terms of forward growth and the ability to give your users a way to interact with each other in any way, that is where BuddyPress will really shine for you.

    You’ll actually need to patch two CORE files, to make this work now.

    wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php on line 317 and line 352

    Change _init to __constuct

    And then in wp-includes/capabilites.php on line 84 and 99

    Change _init to __constuct

    Ugh… I hope this is fixed soon.

    BuddyPress 1.0.3 is due out soon to bump it into compatibility with MU 2.8.1.

    I noticed you had “wpmu.” as a subdomain, so I was curious if you just had a blog named “wpmu” or if all of WPMU was installed in that subdomain.

    I haven’t tried deep integration with forums on a subdomain yet, so I can’t promise you a solution right away, but I would imagine it shouldn’t matter where your forums are, just as long as it’s including the file correctly.

    I’ll give this type of setup a try and see what I come up with.

    One question though… Are you using a wildcard subdomain setup, or do you simply wave wpmu setup in a subdomain?

    If you’re using 2.7.1 and still getting white screens then it’s a php version issue or a memory issue. Both have been addressed here previously so a quick search should help you out there.

    Welcome to the BP community! :)

    The deep integration method I include with my BuddyBar for bbPress should take care of the 404 situation. Give it a shot and let me know how you think it works. I’m not super pro at understanding the ins and outs of SEO and redirect but I think it’s working okay so far.

    @johnjamesjacoby

    All of your cookie settings need to be before the include of wp-settings.php. If not, then wp-settings.php guesses at the defaults.

    bbPress will not load wp-config.php, but you can tell it to load wp-blog-header.php for “deep integration” which is a whole other bag of issues sometimes. :)

    Can anyone with a test setup try to delete a user with 2.8.1 and BuddyPress 1.0.2 active? Mine white screens, and deactivating BuddyPress allows me to delete them.

    @johnjamesjacoby

    You are correct on all counts. Basically both sides of the equation need to equal each other character for character for integration to work. That means trailing slashes, dots, everything.

    If it’s not working, that means something is still off somewhere, and all you can do is retrace your steps over and over again.

    Have you tried deleting your site cookies completely and logging in and out? If an old cookie is sitting there, it can cause some headaches also.

    @Agentmaximus, try removing the SITECOOKIEPATH setting all together. On some integrations I’ve done, that can sometimes get in the way.

    Good find. That’s the blessing and curse of plugin development my friend, haha!

    anointed, sounds like you deleted the php.ini file that you probably needed a while ago to set your memory limit. Either that, or maybe your .htaccess file that enables php5.

    Regarding BuddyPress widgets, so far they look perfectly fine on my 2.8.1 installations.

    @johnjamesjacoby

    Looks like it didn’t actually. Got closed and noted as not needed. Could be me freaking out, but I have a funny feeling it might come back…

    I’m going to go test all of this now and see what happens. :)

    I followed r-a-y’s advice and used the ABS path in my bb-config.php file.

    Are you using his 1 line method, or my recommended method? His way will give you the problems you describe, my way will not.

    @johnjamesjacoby

    That’s right Doc Brown! This is heavy. :)

    @johnjamesjacoby

    Keymaster

    So what did you do to cause this to happen? ;)

    This is something I haven’t seen before. Is it possible you made some changes to your directory template file that are causing the URL to be the root blog instead of the one in question?

    Look in…

    wp-content/bp-themes/your member theme/directories/blogs/blogs-loop.php

    The function in question is…

    bp_the_site_blog_link()

    It’s responsible for getting the link to that blog, so something is getting in its way and filtering it. Try disabling your plugins one at a time and see if you can trace it back?

    Believe it or not, I’ve actually had this EXACT same problem on every website I’ve used BP for, and I cannot for the life of me find a fix. I think the problem lies with websites that use a set width and use a specific method of positioning.

    The JavaScript in the cropper is actually another opensource project that was included into BP, as there are several to choose from. It looks like it’s getting the wrong dimensions from somewhere, but I haven’t been able to find out where.

    Maybe this weekend if I have time I’ll take a look at this in more detail.
