In reply to: horizontal alignment of menu is off
My guess is that this is probably a CSS issue in your theme. However, it’s a bit hard to judge without a link to your site. Would you be able to provide one please?
In reply to: [Resolved] Boarders to On-Page WidgetsProbably your best bet would be to style:
widgets_on_page
So you could do for instance:
`widgets_on_page{
border: 2px solid #ccc;
}`In reply to: Cannot find page.php and cannot edit index.phpHeadway is probably going to require some different steps as more of a Framework. I know it may sound like passing on advice but I know Headway had (not sure if updated) a leaf for BuddyPress: http://headwaythemes.com/addons/leafs/headway-buddypress-addon/ (currently 404’ing though). My advice would be check that out by contacting Headway.
Hi gamelord, just trying to grasp what is going on here so forgive me if going over stuff you’ve done already.
You can reset pages under BuddyPress under Settings > BuddyPress. Is that available to you?
In reply to: Hide menu using css HELP!Have you tried attaching the hiding to the ul not just the li?
If that doesn’t work can you paste your menu CSS in this link https://gist.github.com/ and link here please?
In reply to: How to put javascript at the bottomThe proper way is to use enqueue and you can specify location using that: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script
In reply to: Can’t Access the SettingsHi Justinfh, as already mentioned in another of your posts I do think this is to do with your settings not being saved correctly for BuddyPress. If you can follow my advice in that post it may solve both.
In reply to: [Resolved] How to remove activity since 1 hour agoHi mastermind12, the advice for this does change depending on what theme you are using. What theme are you using?
In reply to: Registration Page Not FoundHi Justinfh, have you gone under the BuddyPress settings and made sure things are saved for pages and the same for your permlinks?
In reply to: can’t able to post commentHi Websitevala, if possible can you go to your BuddyPress settings and resave and also resave the permlinks under Settings? This may not be it but a good check.
If that doesn’t work it’s worth checking if a plugin could be interacting and testing (if possible) with the default BuddyPress theme.
If we’re still out of luck as to where the culprit is can you please link to your site (if possible) and tell us what theme you are using? Also if you are able to paste into https://gist.github.com/ any errors you are having in your error log (your hosting can help you locate this), that would also be helpful.
As for what gets effected when you upgrade, well that’s a little dependent on your set up. It is usually advised to make sure all your essential plugins and your theme either have updated versions or work with BuddyPress 1.6 – the same goes with WordPress.
In reply to: Stream The Game.Hi, I kind of got hit in the face for 20 points by pop ups when I first clicked to view your site – that may unfortunately be a little off putting to users as a first stage.
Looks nice and clean though. I would maybe suggest some colour splashes to build on from the logo. I really dig a bit of personality in communities and a gaming community could be a real good chance for this.
You’ve got a great foundation though using the theme you are and wish you all the best with your community.
Have you got a menu widget in your sidebar widget area? You can check this by going to Appearance > Widgets.
In reply to: Center: Footer WidgetsHi tsuganth, if you want to center align just the contents of the widget (each one) then :
`#footer-widget-area div.widget-area > ul {
text-align: center;
}`Just as a sanity check have you tried the default theme for BuddyPress? I understand if changing themes isn’t possible on your live site though.
I really like the strong use of colour on your site. Makes me even want you to do that more – it’s really cool. I’m wandering is there meant to be something in the sidebar though? It seems blank to me.
Have you styled your plugins.php files in your theme?
You can do this using CSS:
‘div#content {
float: right;
width: 80%;’‘div#content .padder {
margin-right: 0px;
}’‘div#sidebar {
float: left;
margin-left: 0px;
margin-top: 1px;
width: 224px;
}’There are a lot more features with the new admin bar merge and I think I’m right in saying at some point the fall back of going to the BuddyBar will be removed. However, in the meantime @r-a-y posted this snippet a few days ago that should help:
Add the following code snippet in your /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:
`add_filter( ‘bp_use_wp_admin_bar’, ‘__return_true’ );`
In reply to: Fix formatting on WebsiteYou will have to do a little bit of adjustment for the CSS:
`div#sidebar table {
margin: 0 -16px;
width: 117%;
}`needs to become:
`div#sidebar table {
margin: 0;
width: 100%;
}`In reply to: BuddyPress 1.6 doesn’t show FaviconJust to confirm, do you mean it’s not showing the group avatar?
Hmm yeah thank you @rogercoathup for pointing that out – and as a result illustrating why duplicate threads is bad .. it adds to confusion.
Hi raminjan, it all depends on your theme really as to what course of action to take. Would it be possible to link to your site to see? You say BuddyPress default but is it customised in any shape?
Failing that usually a sidebar would involve some floating element for instance a pattern could be:
`#newsidebar{
float:right;
width:22%
}`In reply to: Page Titles Behaving Improperly BP 1.6Just as a check, have you gone to settings > permlinks and reaved? Also can you double check everything by going to BuddyPress and saving your pages to the right pages again.
If that doesn’t work, are you using a cache plugin or something SEO plugin – if so what happens if you clear your cache or (if possible) turn off that plugin? Have you also checked all your plugins are up to date?
Hi kalyan_bs, just to be clear in Chrome I don’t see it ‘mixing’ – what do you expect to see?
Hi k12onos, it’s weird you say you get this with the default theme as well. Could you provide a link perhaps to se this on your site – I understand it may not be live though.
Just as a check, are you using any plugins on top of BuddyPress? If you are have you made sure they are also updated for BuddyPress 1.6? I’m thinking there perhaps could be a scripting error from those.
