Ummm…I guess this thread is spammed?

Thank you for the link, Aces, but my problem with that answer is that every profile field is filled in (5 or 6) and I only tweak my site vis CSS includes, so that would be alot of changing the .php files which don’t do.

I would like to figure out why it is happening, if at all possible.

Just posting again, hoping someone can help with this issue (see above).

Thanks again….it isn’t a Suffusion thing after all. I found the members tab in the Profile area again by clicking on the highlighted terms in the profile fields. That is where it was/is. Not terribly convenient, so I will probably add a page link, too. You see, tab is not redundant to those of us who are not using the full functionality of BP, without forums.

I am using Suffusion theme and have been all along.

What I am trying to say is that when I used to go to my profile, there would be my avatar, my name, the answers to my profile questions a few tabs for settings, profile, changing avatar, etc. There used to be (unless I have entered the Twilight Zone) a tab there to go to the member directory page…which makes great sense to me. A member clicks over to someone’s profile via, perhaps, the “who’s online” avatar widget in the sidebar, they read that profile then they want to read more profiles, so they click the tab that used to be there to do so.

I can make a menu link, but it just makes more sense for it to be in the profile section, doesn’t it? And wasn’t it there? The only place I’ve found it on these forums is on the forum index.

Does that further understanding at all?

I didn’t mean to be critical of the lack of help, I’ve just got to get this resolved. I can’t link to my site because it is private, but are you basically saying that there is no longer a link to the member directory as the basic part of bp profiles? It seems such a basic thing.

If a custom menu link is my only option, I will do that.

Would love to know, tho’, if that is a bp thing that changed in the recent upgrade?

    With thanks,

    Lesley

Ok…starting to feel rather desperate here. I’ve read all the links given in the one response to my question. No help there. I set everything up properly, there had been a “members” tab in the profiles section, now it is gone. Is this because of the upgrade?

How can I restore a link to the members page? As I said, it does exist, there is just no link to get there.

    Please help.

The directory is there at mysite.com/members….but there is no longer a tab or link to it from the profiles. I have had to take a long break from working on my site, but I do remember that it was there, and as I get close to launching my site, my members will naturally want to be able to click to the directory to see the other members.

Where should the link be? I see that there isn’t one here, either, when I visit a profile….is this a new setting for BP?

….oh, just noticed (came back to edit this) that you can see a members tab in the forum postings. I hope this isn’t the only place BP puts it, as I don’t have forums?

Thank you! That worked nicely….of course, I still have the group name there and wish I wasn’t required to name a profile group, but it seems to be a required thing.

    Thanks again.

    : )

No other admin, only me. I think I wasn’t very clear. What I am trying to do is get rid of all that language-the group name, the heading the comes up when you type in the profile fields “editing Profile group…”

Is it possible to have profiles but not have a heading/name or a group at all?

As for the images, I meant that I wanted to add an image here to show you what I meant…but that is good to know about profiles, too, for I was thinking that would be a nice option.

Just trying to keep things clean and uncluttered.

Thanks so much for the help!

Thank you, modemlooper, for your simple and clear guidance. After reading other threads that involved changing code and such, your email gave a much easier solution. I wouldn’t have thought to click the word “base” in the setup profile field section, if I hadn’t read this thread, but I did and was able to change the name to something that enhances the experience for my members-rather than having to figure out coding to get rid of it.

    Grateful!
