where is membership directory?

Such a simple question…but I can’t figure out why, when I on my profile, there isn’t a link where I can see all the members and visit their profiles? Do I have a setting wrong or something?

I only have some friends as pretend members right now and it is not live, but it is all real and setup properly…so what have I done wrong.

And can I somehow circumvent the whole BP group thing, as we don’t have groups at my member ship site, just one large group with the whole membership?

The directory is there at mysite.com/members….but there is no longer a tab or link to it from the profiles. I have had to take a long break from working on my site, but I do remember that it was there, and as I get close to launching my site, my members will naturally want to be able to click to the directory to see the other members.

Where should the link be? I see that there isn’t one here, either, when I visit a profile….is this a new setting for BP?

….oh, just noticed (came back to edit this) that you can see a members tab in the forum postings. I hope this isn’t the only place BP puts it, as I don’t have forums?

Ok…starting to feel rather desperate here. I’ve read all the links given in the one response to my question. No help there. I set everything up properly, there had been a “members” tab in the profiles section, now it is gone. Is this because of the upgrade?

How can I restore a link to the members page? As I said, it does exist, there is just no link to get there.

    Please help.

Know that 99.9% of those who help out in forums are volunteers living in different time zones.

Re link to Members directory, you should be adding that to your custom menu. If that’s not what you meant, please provide link to your site where the issue is.

I didn’t mean to be critical of the lack of help, I’ve just got to get this resolved. I can’t link to my site because it is private, but are you basically saying that there is no longer a link to the member directory as the basic part of bp profiles? It seems such a basic thing.

If a custom menu link is my only option, I will do that.

Would love to know, tho’, if that is a bp thing that changed in the recent upgrade?

    With thanks,

    Lesley

What theme were/are you using? There’s something getting lost in translation and we’re speaking in the same language.

I am using Suffusion theme and have been all along.

What I am trying to say is that when I used to go to my profile, there would be my avatar, my name, the answers to my profile questions a few tabs for settings, profile, changing avatar, etc. There used to be (unless I have entered the Twilight Zone) a tab there to go to the member directory page…which makes great sense to me. A member clicks over to someone’s profile via, perhaps, the “who’s online” avatar widget in the sidebar, they read that profile then they want to read more profiles, so they click the tab that used to be there to do so.

I can make a menu link, but it just makes more sense for it to be in the profile section, doesn’t it? And wasn’t it there? The only place I’ve found it on these forums is on the forum index.

Does that further understanding at all?

Yes it does. Suffusion theme had many options built in plus it’s own BP Compatibility plugin. I’ve never used the theme. I suggest you bring the issue over to the Suffusion forums as the theme dev would know what’s going on with your recent upgrade and compatibility with Suffusion theme and their compatibility plugin.

There’s never been any members directory tab is In user’s profile area ever in bp-default theme (BP 1.2 to present) nor in older bp-sn-parent theme (pre-BP 1.2). It would redundant as there is already a link to Members directory in main menu.

Thanks again….it isn’t a Suffusion thing after all. I found the members tab in the Profile area again by clicking on the highlighted terms in the profile fields. That is where it was/is. Not terribly convenient, so I will probably add a page link, too. You see, tab is not redundant to those of us who are not using the full functionality of BP, without forums.
