WP/BP versions? Did you add that function to your wp-config.php (the right place) or to theme’s functions.php file?

The most basic bp-default child theme is a new folder name and a style.css file. What other “files” did you add to your bp-default child theme?

Clearly we have different interpretations re “shift the menu bar (which is on the header) to the left” which I find out that you meant making the horizontal menu a vertical menu on a left sidebar(?), theme? site URL?.

Depends, when you say profile, is it just the xprofile page or each member’s section as a whole? Depends also if the selector you used was too specific that it affected only my-pages e.g. and not all other pages. So many reasons, hard to say without examples of what you mean.
