@netweblogic Yeah, Otto et al have certainly beefred up the WP.org forums both for users and plugin authors. And, thanks for being proactive in upgrading your plugins 🙂 There’s no favoriting for the bp.org forums at this time. Perhaps, when @johnjamesjacoby rolls out the new bbPress plugin, that issue could be addressed then. In the meantime,…[Read more]

mercime posted on the forum topic how to edit menus? in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 6 months ago
The navigation menu is in the header.php starting here https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php#L46 You can change the links by creating a Child Theme so your revisions won’t be overwritten when BP is upgraded. You won’t find the BP menus in the Appearance > Menu unless you revise the links in navigation menu…[Read more]

Hi @dzulfriday The BP Gallery plugin by @sbrajesh can accomplish what you need. It’s a premium plugin at this time. Don’t let the RC version deter you, many of us have been using it in live sites since early this year and support by Brajesh is excellent – the plugin is updated per BP/WP upgrades etc. The Site […]

@jhansensd Agree with @hnla. You asked for advice and that’s the standard one that you’ll get to isolate what the conflict is. You might also want to check out https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configuration Then if all’s well with BP plugin, you activate your custom theme and see how it works out. install the other…[Read more]

mercime posted on the forum topic The BuddyPress of My Website Looks COMPLETELY Different in Firefox! WHY?! in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 6 months ago
@tom_taylor_85 there’s a conflict of CSS inheritance between your custom theme and the bp-default theme’s CSS. Your theme should be in wp-content/themes/ folder so that’s not the problem. As rogercoathup mentioned above, you should install firebug add-on to Mozilla to help you ID which need to be fixed.. It’s the CSS.

@whitbyglennk codebases of WP single and WPMU were merged in version WP 3.0. You can now enable multisite (create a network) from WP 3.0+ installation. If you are considering going multisite, you must fix any path or permissions problems you have in single WP install (at WordPress.org forums) before Creating a Network . And, you must Create a […]

@keithmarsh before installing BuddyPress, make sure that your WP is working well after you’ve moved your WP to root.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
btw, Giving WordPress its own directory method does not work for multisite and I haven’t seen it work for BuddyPress even if you have WP single site. -

@whitbyglennk At first glance, seems to me like an upload path problem when you haven’t configured WP/multisite correctly – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configuration Q1: Group Avatars – if you’re on multisite and BP is installed at root, group avatars go to wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/group-avatars Q2: What…[Read more]

There’s just so many things wrong going on, have to go at it a step at a time. You need to give additional information like WP 3.0.1 is multisite or single? The home URL goes to UShareNH.com/1/ so you installed WP in /1/ subdirectory or is your BP installed in secondary blog? Also, almost all […]

@whitbyglennk installing BP at the root is the ideal scenario. However, it can be installed in a secondary blog of installation as well. Rephrasing @LPH2005‘s question earlier, what do you have at the root of your public folder that you cannot install WP 3.0.1/BP at root?

Yes, you can install WP 3.0.1 in physical subdomain and go multisite in subdirectory mode. See BuddyPress configurations available here:

@hnla Thank you. Agree that user created groups should be suspended for regular users, but Mods and above should be able to create group/s when needed.
It’s sad that lead devs have no time to program a script for this site which would make it easier for Mods do their volunteer work at BP.org and make this site a testament to BuddyPress goodness…[Read more]

Your kind but my contribution is minimal at the moment. I’m going to bring up the subject of spam and our ability to manage it with Paul again, the issue has been briefly raised but I think some pleading to get various site implementations pushed through sooner rather than later an imperative now, the type of spam we are hosting just shows BP in a…[Read more]
