Who knows, possibly after WP 3.0 /BP 1.3, there’ll be a plugin to do so.

Could you be more specific? BuddyPress’ bp-default theme has all necessary files for a blog – index, style.css, archive, comments, 404, etc.

Reupload style.css of your theme.

Add a new Page, enter content make title of Page Home, and Publish. Create a Page named “Blog” without any content and Publish.
Go to Settings > Reading and choose Static Front page “Home” as Front page and “Blog” as Posts page.

This will help you add dashboard link to your bp admin bar
