In reply to: Theme compatibility?
== why buddypress doesn’t use user_metadata and have a proprietary xprofile table. ==
I believe one reason would be that WP doesn’t have an API for BuddyPress’ more sophisticated profile fields/groups, or something of that nature. At least that’s what I recall a core dev answering the last time that question was asked

ok, I have revised the code above to right sidebar only. Delete old header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php and add code posted above.
Note that in the revised instruction, you do not create a blank sidebar-buddypress.php file but copy the sidebar.php file and Save As > sidebar-buddypress.php then follow instructions above.
In reply to: How can I customise the “createBlogForm”The Salutation theme has its own BP template files if I am not mistaken. If so, you will then have to make the change/s in theme’s salutation/blogs/create.php file. Back up the original create.php file just in case something goes awry.
In reply to: Homepages@tgnwsauctions looks like you’ve fixed it already on your own

Marking this as resolved.As for bbPress not showing up, BP compatibility didn’t change the original page.php which bbPress theme compat uses. Please start a new topic in this forum or in bbPress.org if you need further assistance on this matter.
In reply to: How can I customise the “createBlogForm”@fitnessblogger if you have child theme of bp-default theme or are using the BP template pack plugin and moved BP template folders/files, then copy over this file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/blogs/create.php following the directory structure and make the change.
Code posted at http://wp.me/p1I84P-1p
@jaymeselman Note: If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your backstreet theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete those 6 BP folders transferred to your theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
In reply to: [Resolved] Allignment – BlackLight theme@tomelk31 It should rein in BP content to the left to lift up the sidebar. Where did you add the style to `#content .padder` and the styles I mentioned for you to copy from the Twenty Ten modifications? I’m looking at your blacklight/style.css file in server and the styles have not been added at all.
A day hasn’t passed by and you’re already bumping your post. Know that those who help out in the forums are all volunteers living in different time zones.
@cleaus there’s `get_template_part(‘content’, ‘page’ ) ;` in your page.php file which means I need the code to content-page.php file as well
In reply to: Restrict Group Creation== Yes it work with the admins but for other user account type the plugin didn’t allow them to create a group. ==
For group creation In BuddyPress at this time, it’s either Admin or “others” – the users/members – that’s it. So there’s no conflict when only the Admin can create groups if you uncheck “Enable group creation for all users.”
In reply to: Theme compatibility?Basically, you will no longer need to install the BP Template Pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress as this new feature serves as a fallback for any WP theme which does not have BuddyPress templates in it. The feature is the same way bbPress plugin templates are served up in WP themes.
In reply to: Activating Buddypress featuresYou need to install/activate BP Template Pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress.
Could very well be that your theme has not been updated. Have you changed to bp-default theme to see if issue is corrected?
In reply to: Restrict Group CreationIt’s either a theme conflict or more likely a plugin conflict (a membership plugin probably) because restricting group creation to admins only is working in all default installations using bp-default theme and updated plugins.
B. CREATE a NEW BLANK FILE named sidebar-buddypress.php
Open up the blank sidebar-buddypress.php file and add the following within:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});`
Save file.
C. Upload header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to your theme folder in server wp-content/themes/strings/ in the same directory where your regular header.php and sidebar.php files are
D. Copy the style modifications for some BP elements https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste those at the bottom of your theme’s stylesheet, then adjust to taste.
Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you will only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make the BP templates compatible with your theme.
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your strings theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete those 6 BP folders transferred to your theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add:
`<article class="blog_post" id="post-id; ?>”>`@jaymeselman based on the HTML structure of your theme, you only need to create two files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php
Having said that, you have two options. either
a) all pages full-width
b) all pages with sidebar(a) or (b)?
@cleaus there’s not a single code in your pastebin.com’s links for index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php
I did ask you if you wanted option (a) or (b) above so we can do this already
Which is it?In reply to: [Resolved] Allignment – BlackLight theme@tomelk31 looks like the easiest option is available where you only need to adjust the style instead of revising 16 BP template files by adding the following to your stylesheet:
`#content .padder {
float: left;
margin-top: 20px;
width: 600px;
}`
then copy over the style modifications for some BP elements https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste those at the bottom of your theme’s stylesheet after the `#content .padder` above, then adjust to taste.Can’t say. Based on what’s in the BP roadmap – major upgrades – I can only guess around December or so, but don’t bet on it
