  • looks like we may have to wait for the next buddypress upgrade which might include an editor….

ok, so the “reply_text”/editor id field doesn’t matter what is in it? Wondering how it knows which editor to use?

hi, thanks a lot for your reply.
I can’t seem to get that to work. When you say to replace ‘reply_text’ with the id of the editor, is the ID just the name of this editor? Is there somewhere I can look to find out the specific ID because I am suspecting maybe the ID is something different then the name?

Is this method you told me above basically to tell the forums which editor to use, or the whole site?

    Thanks!

Edit: Also, I save the topic.php in my child theme folder at “/themes/bp-child/groups/single/forum/topic.php” correct?

well my buddypress forums page is http://msflights.net/xforumsx
but my archive slug in forum settings is http://msflights.net/forums

If I change the puddypress forums page slug to the same as the forum setting page (/forums) the links don’t work because its some kinda of conflict having them both the same slug.

Is there a way to make the buddypress forum page link to the correct slug? Or should I just delete the buddypress forum page and link it with a new page?

ok sorry the links don’t work now. I unfortunately asked my web hosting company for some help and they said buddypress was the problem so disabled it and messed with some files and now it’s completely broken so I’m going to reinstall everything.

But if my original question makes sense I would still appreciate some input on it, thanks!

it was an issue with my hosting company….ipage….they had to “increase” my memory :) wasted all that time for nothing lol…

Ok so I did a fresh install of worpress on my website and when installing buddypress and the site wide forums…I get this error after activating bbPress ” Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /hermes/bosweb/web123/b1238/ipg.msflightsnet/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 883 ” and my dashboard doesn’t work anymore.

Any ideas? Maybe this is a child theme issue and I have to add certain files to it? Thanks!

thanks for your reply, Im guessing I have some extra files or something in the root….gonna go hunting :)

hmmm now I’m wondering if I misread when I thought multi-site was required for subscribers to create their own events. Guess I could re-install and start over since I haven’t added much content yet.

ok thanks, will try. I did multi-site because I was under the impression that you needed multi-site if you wanted your users to beable to create events? Is this true?

hmm I don’t see Initial user roles anywhere in general settings. I have multisite enabled, and I don’t see it anywhere in the Network Admin section either.

    Any other suggestions?

i have been using firebug and not sure what to edit, i see html on the left like but not sure where to find that html to edit if that’s right, or if there’s somewhere in the dashboard I can do this? Maybe in functions.php but afraid to mess with it until I know what to do.
    Thanks!

p.s. I cant find the “nav” code in header.php either, also I am using multisite so maybe that is why this is more difficult
