check the WP plugin repo there are some plugins to make the admin bar work better on mobile

If you find things in codex that are deprecated then leave it but put a note next to it saying what BP version it got dropped. That whole template tag page needs a good flogging.

1.7 saw theme compatibity which was huge. That happened within 2 years. There has also been alot of work in the admin.

BuddyPress is a solid foundation to build incredable things. I prefer that than bloated buggy features that are unmaintainable.

create a new user in admin and change that account to admin. then logout. login with new admin account and mark your other account not a spammer in wanguard

Is WordPress installed in the root or in a folder? sounds like the install got borked. In future I would always use the admin to update WP. Also, this error has happened before when WP was installed using a one click host installer.
