@modemlooper Hey! So I need a little help with Buddypress Share it. I really love the idea of the plugin, but
am, running into some issues. When I try to share anything from the activity stream or any part of the site, it doesn’t share that info, it shares the site’s membership page info.
It’s wierd. and it shows the paypal logo which is also…[Read more]-
If you are referring to FB share there is not much you can do. Facebook scrapes the page and takes what it wants. They are also doing away with the share button and instead want sites to use like buttons. You can try to add graph tags to web pages to tell FB what content to use.
-
Thanks Modemlooper! I am following your advice and trying to integrate the like button 🙂
-
I’m going to switch the button down the road to the like. For now they are still allowing the use of the share but eventually it will be phased out.
-
Hey .. that sounds good.
So i did try the like button, but it seems facebook still scrapes my membership page.
do you think it’s because i’m using s2member ?should i open up the rss feeds to the search engines?
-
So i used Facebook’s URL Linter and discovered that Facebook is scraping the wrong meta data ONLY when trying to access info from the activity stream and member profiles page.
It’s fine for simple pages.
Do you know of anyway I can figure this out? I appreciate your quick responses and your help…-
If your pages are behind a login then FB will scrap login page.

@modemlooper hi. had a look at the BuddyPress Widget Theme 1.2.7 which works great and a pretty good idea. It works on my LTR site but not RTL site. You know that byddypress default theme is compatible with RTL aspects as well. but when i activate the widget theme on RTL site. it does not work correctly (only the CSS aspects of it). is there any…[Read more]

The RTL styles for the widget template would need to be added to rtl.css file. If you copy the rtl.css file from bp-default in the BuddyPress plugin folder and add it to widget theme you can add the styles to float things to the right.
-
hi thanks for the response. can you be more specific? is it enough just to copy the rtl.cc file and paste it in the widget template folder or do you mean some thing else. i am afraid i did not understand the process. can you explain please?
thanks-
The CSS for the widget columns is not included in rtl.css. You will have to add that yourself.
-
Hi again
it took me some time to get back to my css work again 🙂
could you please tell me which are these “The CSS for the widget columns” my problem is that i don’t have any way to compare what is missing. i appreciate if you tell me where these tags are so i could add then the rtl.csssorry for the trouble.
cheers

@chestnut_jp I would say @modemlooper probably has the most experience with this one. So my question is: modemlooper, is there any kind of database out there that lists the capabilities of each phone/version/browser? Because it would be possible to add a look-up class to BP-media that ensures the right phone sees the right links and/or content. I […]

Thanks for your comment, @modemlooper At present, I answered to the Japanese user to comment out the css definition in BP Mobile plugin, in order to show the “Upload pictures” link. Well, another option is just like: ` <?php $agent = $_SERVER; if(ereg(“iPhone”, $agent) || ereg(“iPod”, $agent) || ereg(“iPad”, $agent)) { $agentresult = 2;} elseif…[Read more]

I have added this feature to our work queue, and also to our GSoC projects page.

Certainly possible from a technical point of view. There could be issues with spammers abusing it though.
How are Facebook and Flickr handling mobile uploads? I don’t think they use a dedicated app do they?

@modemlooper Okay, fair enough …but it seems that Android can natively upload to Album+, as reported by @chestnut_jp “Accessing to …/album/upload/ by inputting the url in the address bar manually takes you to the upload page, and you can properly upload the picture.” Perhaps you could verify this on your mobile and, if correct, not hide the […]
