@seocostarica Check out EventPress – http://gsoc2010.wordpress.com/2010/08/16/eventpress/
the bp-events plugin is good to BP 1.1.3 only. Here’s another BP 1.2 compatible Events plugin – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jet-event-system-for-buddypress/As @Modemlooper wrote, h-mag.com events is a customized system per creator

Buddypress theme as social bookmarking. I am interested in the concept of the pressmark theme. I try to modify to make it as a child theme on BuddyPress, But so far not been successful :D. It would be great if anyone can do it. Maybe you, @modemlooper, ;). Not necessarily adopt the Pressmark theme . The point […]

mercime posted on the forum topic Can somebody test this share button in IE? in the group Third Party Components & Plugins: 14 years, 3 months ago
Hi @modemlooper tested http://tempsg.com/activity/ in IE6 as well and the dropdown works well and the pop-ups show up quarter of the browser on top left of screen. The share button is styled in activity but there is no visible styling for share button in forum topic in IE6. Otherwise, looking good.

Janis posted on the forum topic Sidebar Tabs in the group Creating & Extending: 14 years, 3 months ago
@Roger Coathup @Modemlooper
It is tabbed sidebar and issue is that all available plugins (sidebartabs and so on) at wordpress.org do not work properly in BP…some show tabs + no widgets, some widgets + no tabs.
Manually it will be too hard for me, probably, will try to follow Jalien’s advice.thanks.

Roger Coathup posted on the forum topic Forum content in meta and topic title in title? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 3 months ago
ok, I suspect that bp_get_the_topic_title() and the forum template tags can only be used inside the loop. Can anyone confirm this? Instead, have a look at the functions in bp-forums.php and see if they will help you. Alternatively, download the plugins that @modemlooper advised, and have a look at their code to see which functions they […]

Hmm, a few pages don’t load… like going to Settings and a couple plugins. Should https be excluded for certain paths (like plugins) or do plugins need to be reminded to go https if that’s how the site will go? @modemlooper , is there a way to host the BuddyPress Tweet Button image from my server? Roger Coathup posted on the forum topic How do I detect whether I’m on a BuddyPress page? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 3 months ago
@zamoose – you can use the function: bp_current_component() that returns a boolean To detect specific pages, you can use bp_is_page() as @modemlooper points out. Use it like this: bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) bp_is_page( BP_ACTIVITY_SLUG ) bp_is_page( BP_GROUPS_SLUG ) bp_is_page( BP_FORUMS_SLUG ) bp_is_page( BP_BLOGS_SLUG ) Other functions (look…[Read more]

@Modemlooper I guess that is what i was trying to ask, how would one go about adding things like @mentions to the default profile stream. I got that post to user’s wall thing going which is nice, but then it is directed to the @mentions tab still.

alanchrishughes posted on the forum topic Singular Activity Stream in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 3 months ago
@Modemlooper I’m not talking about that page, I’m talking about individual users’ activity. When someone @’s you on here, it shows up in your activity stream. I’ve never “favorited” anything so I don’t know if that shows up in your activity stream also or if you still have to go to its individual tab, but that […]

@modemlooper it’s just from scratch, canvas theme, but as I’m modifying…i’m seeing less and less need for the forums even as a plugin…since the QA theme would just be one big plugin anyway that’s much easier to manipulate and add other plugins to like voting, popularity, etc. It would be tough to get that with a […]

@modemlooper i’ve been starting working with a blog-as-forum theme, basically a QA theme. That could be something you could do. a Forum theme. I’m getting ready to leave the bb forums all together, because I’m not seeing a benefit in forums over a modified community QA theme blog.

@Modemlooper I mean how it is broken up into Personal – Friends – Groups – Favorites – @mentions
I’d like to find a way to merge all of them accept for the friends activity into one personal stream like bp.org and facebook.

Do Not trust anything @modemlooper said because he doesn’t have good title on his blog post “Hello world!.” He was suggesting me to install SEO BuddyPress. What he was doing is do as I say, not as I do then silent himself.

Excuse me? LOL

That is smart comment it will get you somewhere.

@Mikey3d I’ve just noticed this stream of activity, can I just point out that generally speaking remarking on a forum member in the way you have is not acceptable To advice people ‘DO NOT to trust’ someone is plainly wrong if you have an issue then discuss it with the member but DO NOT call their reputation into disrepute in this manner.
-
It might be a language difference, not sure. Not that it’s right but I’ve been around a few forums and have learned when people are flaming you you ignore it.

@modemlooper – The tweet button on the activity stream still doesn’t get the activity item URL – only the base directory url but when viewing the permalink it displays the url. How did you get it to work on your test bp site?
-
Try deleting plugin and re installing from repo
-
I did that a couple of times. When viewing the source the code looks like this – http://pastebin.com/USKbRP6S
-
Ok, it doesn’t work with the plugin “External Links”
-
More like links doesnt work with my plugin. I have it using BP’s link structure but the links plugin doesnt work teh same way. I’ve messaged teh developer to try and work out why their plugin view link goes to the permalink and not the actual content.

There’s definitely some language issue, but his attitude is pretty aggressive in general. I managed to help him out on the problem, but wanted to slam the ‘proverbial phone’ down on several occasions.
@hnla – was glad to see you dealing with the flaming.
