In reply to: Default theme with widgetized home pageThis theme is now in the repo. You can install it via your WP admin >> Appearance >> add new themes. Search Buddypress.
I’ll be adding a few more page templates with various layouts.
In reply to: Upgrading from regular WP to BuddyPressIn reply to: Default theme with widgetized home page@stefrusso check this link http://tempsg.com/buddypress you can see I have a text widget with HTML text added. This theme is using the same code as the default BP theme. I’ve only included CSS to format the widget columns.
In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!@andhix Delete the whitespace on the last line in bp-oembed.php (the whitespace after ?>).
I was testing what you can embed and the polldaddy plugin polls go into the activity stream and forums using the short code very nicely
My child theme is just a widgetized page template you can still use a front activity page if you want. I’m updating the code to fix the widgets. The css for a couple widgets are coded to fit the default sidebar. After I update I’ll post it in the repo.
If you activate the child theme and do nothing it is just the default theme. You need to create a page and choose the widgetized page template and then add widgets to the admin >> widgets
In reply to: Front End Blog PostingThese ideas are meant for suggestions to the core functionality in future versions of BP. Thats why it’s posted in the ideas forum.

#content {
float:left;
margin:0;
padding:0;
width:630px;
}
In reply to: Theme Issueahh yes!
In reply to: Theme IssueEDIT: this is for the default BP theme not a custom WP to BP conversion
plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css
but if you upgrade BP stuff you add to the default css will get removed.
It is better to create a child theme that has a blank css file and then put overrides there.

In reply to: Default Activity Streams Are Backwards IMHOIt’s not about the front page after login. It’s about the default views of landing pages being overloaded with noise. People do not like this.
Instead of showing the all members activity as the landing when you click the activity tab it would make more sense to show your friends only first. This is the default way that FB and twitter works.
so the sub nav would be some thing like this instead. So that the major noise is not the focus. If you are new to site and you click activity the prompt should say. “You don’t have any friends why not add some or ‘link’ view the site wide activity”
My Friends (1)
My Groups (5)
My Favorites (1)
