In reply to: BuddyPress not working on phones
It works but for some reason 2014 theme css has display none on the content when screen size is small.
style.css file line 2995
In reply to: bp-default parent theme missingIf you have bp-default active it will still show when upgrading. If you deactivate bp-default it will not show.
Please consider moving your site to a new theme. There may not be fixes for any new features in the future.
The define listed above is for sites that do not want to upgrade theme right away. It was created as a fix to give sites time to move away from bp-default. Contact the theme developer and have them remove BuddyPress from your theme so it can use theme compatibility.
In reply to: Make BuddyPress | bbpress like Make.WordPress.orgThere are not enough contributors to BuddyPress to do something as extensive as the make.wordpress
Here is the current options to get involved https://codex.buddypress.org/participate-and-contribute/
In reply to: BP Single Activity Item View Breaks Page Layout. If you have a properly coded WordPress theme you do not need to copy the BuddyPress folder unless you want to customize a template.
In reply to: BP Single Activity Item View Breaks Page Layout. You do not need to “integrate” BuddyPress with a theme in the current version. What theme are you using?
In reply to: BuddyPress warning message on site – Please help!Post the issue at their site as that is a premium plugin and they should support it.
In reply to: New great plugin, buddypress-wall by @megainfoWhat an exhaustive way to get “post to someone’s profile functionality”. This could have easily been done using the core activity stream without the need to remove and then replace with almost identical code.
You can add customized activity items with a custom post form. As for changing Activity text to Wall that is simple to edit as well. Adding custom template files for the activity isn’t a good idea as they can be altered in a theme.
Create custom activity using this function https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/function-examples/bp_activity_add.

In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change! In reply to: Using BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT with a subnav itemupdated code to only have it run on user activity as it might conflict with the main activity loop
In reply to: Using BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT with a subnav itemSubnav items are not parent components so it won’t work using that define.
function bp_change_activity_subnav_default() { if ( bp_is_user_activity() ) { $args = array( 'parent_slug' => 'activity', 'subnav_slug' => 'following' ); bp_core_new_nav_default($args); } } add_action('bp_setup_nav', 'bp_change_activity_subnav_default', 5);In reply to: Social network with gamificationIn reply to: Need Help – Im Building a Custom Component for MusicThere is a bit of disconnect from CPT and a component.
check out Achievements plugin to see how you can create CPT that utilizes BP. BP component is more for an easy way to get activity streams, settings etc. It is not a requirement and sometimes is inappropriate.
In reply to: Need Help – Im Building a Custom Component for MusicDid you create a component using BP api or are you just loading cpt in a tab?
In reply to: Buddy Press Child Themekeep folder structure same as in bp-templates
/child-theme/buddypress/members/single/profile.php
In reply to: I am confused….(notifications, bp-default, etc)There should be a page in admin for Notification. Rename this page to change the tab text
In reply to: I am confused….(notifications, bp-default, etc)A theme can say it’s compatible all it wants and it might not work. Contact the developer of the theme and ask them to make it work with theme compatability templates.
It is holiday time so 1.9.1 will get done when its done.
In reply to: Real Dynamic Menu'sThis will probably get added in the future. User menu links are just the start.
In reply to: I am confused….(notifications, bp-default, etc)Then you will be stuck with a broken site. If you can get the theme developer to remove BuddyPress from the theme and allow it to use BP theme compatibility then your theme will work into the future.
I know this isn’t something you want to hear but it is better in the long run to have theme compatibility. BP 1.9.1 will have a fix for notifications display. This will be the final feature fix. You have the options of removing BuddyPress from your theme or using a new WordPress theme.
In reply to: 'Notifications' Tab appeared in profile? You should be pursuing a new theme for your site. Bp-default has been deprecated and will not be updated in the future. There will be a fix for this issue but there will not be any fixes for new features in the future.
In reply to: I am confused….(notifications, bp-default, etc)Appearance > Themes in the WordPress admin. Activate a different theme.
It has been known for some time that bp-default is getting phased out and new features will not work on it.
Any well coded WordPress theme should work well with BuddyPress.
In reply to: I am confused….(notifications, bp-default, etc)Current BuddyPress works with any theme. All uou need to do is activate a different theme that is not a bp-default child theme
In reply to: Human Error in BP Source Code???It’s a mistake, should be friends.
In reply to: 2.0 top features – ideasThe reason all those themes activity look alike is because previously it was a nightmare to create something that wasn’t derivative of bp-default and it’s heavy-handed javascript. This is not the case anymore.
