In reply to: Really need help on privacy. Complete noob hereYou can use my profile privacy plugin to hide profile sections. Even though it says not supported it still should work. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profile-privacy
Yup, do an if user logged in else statement.
In reply to: Share content TO buddypressBP bookmarklet plugin
fixed error in version 1.2.1
In reply to: I might be showing zero intelligence here.Take code from activity and plop it into a page template. Create a page for this template. Edit the activity loop to just show blog posts.
Very easy if you know code.
In reply to: Screen Notifications. A comprehensive thread. You get notifications for friend adds, messages and comments/replies
The notices are customizable. It’s best to look through the code to see how they work. Most things, like sending a message will run a notice function. So you can add or take away what calls this notice function.
I need more info than “it doesn’t work” if you want a fix. I’ve installed it on 5 different servers without fail. Try deactivating BuddyPress and re activate or even delete it and re install. The error above is not finding the BP component class and this is included in BuddyPress.
I’m not getting the error on testing. The blank page is the beginning for share browser bookmarklet.
If you do not want the users blog content then you can export the BP database and re install it on a fresh site. The users blog content can be export by each user and then they can do what they want with it.
these plugins may help:

In reply to: Is a Child Theme a must have?Yes. The BuddyPress template files are in the plugins folder and get written over on upgrade. It’s a safety measure to use a child theme in case you make mistakes.
in a future BP version BP will use something like template parts and you can use any theme.
I might have written the filter wrong. google around its been discussed heavily on this forum
It’s not a glitch it’s a feature.
add (to a plugin, to your theme’s functions.php file, or to your bp-custom.php file)
remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_profile_field_value’, ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’, 2 );Search here to remove links in profile fields. It’s a BuddyPress feature for searching users who are similar
In reply to: Buddypress Links “create” page 404’d.Maybe the plugin developer hasn’t updated their plugin to work with latest BuddyPress
In reply to: Truncate & Shorten activity statusbp_member_latest_update(‘length=10’)
Change # to how many characters
In reply to: Add customisable Avatars but not Extended ProfilesWordPress already has usernames and there are plugins to allow uploadable avatars
In reply to: Add customisable Avatars but not Extended ProfilesDon’t think that will work. why use BuddyPress if you do not want profiles, it’s the main purpose.
In reply to: Automatic matches based on interestsI’ll add this to my list “plugins to create”. Not sure when i’ll do it but it is a good idea for a plugin. Surprised it hasn’t been created already.
In reply to: BuddyPress Mobile Clash with Buddystream pluginIt’s up to the other plugin creators to make their plugins work. Not my issue. The core team doesn’t make sure BuddyPress works with every plugin. If they did they would never sleep.
In reply to: BP Columns childYou will have to create it yourself or hire a developer
In reply to: Support for Mobile Responsive ThemesYou need to ask about this in theme’s support forum http://www.studiopress.com/support/
You can do this but you might want to use something like gravity forms if you are not using the social features.
In reply to: BuddyPress Mobile Clash with Buddystream pluginI do not give support for added plugins. I do not test with any added BuddyPress plugins unless explicitly stated. Your best bet is to remove the add actions from the mobile theme where the added plugins are placing code to strip your site down to bare essentials. This is generally a good idea for mobile UX.
The next version of the plugin will not allow added plugins to be used unless I make sure they work. This will be to avoid posts like this. I can’t support every iteration of site that BuddyPress wills. Having individual sites is great but that is because BuddyPress plugin developers are creating plugins for BP. No one as of yet has contacted me to say they want to add the mobilized version of their plugin to support BP mobile. That being said i’m making it so BP plugin devs can add the mobile template files themselves to their plugin. It’s a win for you and me as I won’t have to support every plugin my self.
