In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages!
You should be able to go to the component page in the admin and choose the full width page template. there is a drop down on a pages admin in the right sidebar to choose page templates
In reply to: Need some suggestions on this…Found the avatar filters but not sure how to change it to display the associated group avatar.
$object = apply_filters( ‘bp_get_activity_avatar_object_’ . $current_activity_item->component, ‘user’ );
return apply_filters( ‘bp_get_activity_avatar’, bp_core_fetch_avatar( array( ‘item_id’ => $item_id, ‘object’ => $object, ‘type’ => $type, ‘alt’ => $alt, ‘class’ => $class, ‘width’ => $width, ‘height’ => $height, ’email’ => $email ) ) );
EDIT: seems just changing user to groups will get the image.
If you’re using a twit login plugin then you need to blank out the part in the admin for that plugin that adds that to the username. Each and every time you change the settings on that plugin make sure the username box is empty. As for changing the usernames: http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-username-changer/
In reply to: Adding to Account Information in Profile SetupThe easiest way is to ask the question in the profile fields section and then block the field from showing in the profile loop instead of messing with the username password.
In bp-default/members/single/profile/profile-loop.php find the profile fields table and change code accordingly.
You can then output the info on the members profile but wrap it in a if_is_admin statement and then only the site admin will see what the user has inputed into the field.

$id = $bp->groups->current_group->id
Thats how you get the id

In reply to: ConfusingUse beta BuddyPress 1.5 and the bbpress plugin. Go over to testbp.org and you can see the combo in action
In reply to: is it possible to let user to define his own theme?True there is that background image plugin but the question was “theme like twitter” and so far nothing like that exists for profiles
In reply to: is it possible to let user to define his own theme?oh and you could use theme switcher plugins to change a site wide theme to predefines styles. Create little thumbnails like twitter and when user clicks image it switches to that theme/style.
In reply to: getting the item nav and item header to be site wideI don’t think you will find an easy solution to this. The user nav is directly tied into the members component just as the groups sub nav is on the groups pages.
Try looking in to the admin bar code that shows the user nav links.
In reply to: is it possible to let user to define his own theme?There isn’t a custom profile plugin at the moment. There exists a group css plugin that could be used as an example in creating your own plugin. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-css
Another option is adding profile fields and then mapping that info to CSS. See this forum topic: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/css-for-member-page

In reply to: BuddyPress theme with bbPress templatesThe beta 3 should be ok to run on a live site. Always back up though before installing beta BuddyPress. You will get native drop downs and many other fixes/enhancements
In reply to: Need plugins for FB connect, bookmarkingTry some of the WP Facebook connects. I know simple FB connect works and a few others do as well.
Not sure if this plugin still works but for liking things on a site:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-likeTry hiding with CSS.
.group-button{
display:none;
}In reply to: BuddyPress theme with bbPress templateswhen you use bbPress with BuddyPress default theme it has the the same theme that is on testbp.org.
In reply to: Programmatically add menu items to a specific menuIt’s a flaw in BP it will be fixed sometime in the future. I have a trac ticket up.
You can do that now. Go into settings and choose a static front page.
In reply to: WordPress BuddyPress IntegrationPlugins are better because then you have options as apposed to only having what is in core. BuddyPress comes with a set of core components but each of these have hooks, filters you can plugin into and craft anything your coding skills can muster.
You can use the profile part or maybe you just need groups. Pick and choose what you need to make it work for you.
The BP template pack plugin is there to help you integrate with a regular WP theme.
