In reply to: Sidebar Widgets On Profiles
Above you said you created extra pages, widgets sidebars. Did your site work before you customized? Does the site work with BP-default activated? Trying to determine if it’s an install problem or something you’ve added post install as that could be a million different things.
In reply to: Sidebar Widgets On ProfilesExplain more about what files you edited you could be missing a file
In reply to: Am I Breaking Something? Is There An Easier Way?This sounds like a serious security no no to me but it’s your site hack away.
In reply to: Am I Breaking Something? Is There An Easier Way?If a user is logged into WordPress in the same browser there is no way to have a user register another account. Try this on any site on the web an I guarantee you can not.
In reply to: bbPress files were not foundok, did a fresh install and it seems the bbpress folder is missing. https://bbpress.org/download/
Place bbpress into bp-forums/bbpress
In reply to: bbPress files were not foundIf you copied the files back over and it’s blank try to go back to admin >> buddypress >> forums set up and do a re install. Click the Use an existing bbPress installation button.
In reply to: WordPress 3.1Just warning as people use WP plugins on BP sites and there are a ton of outdated plugins in the repo. I had a couple plugins break in 3.1.
You should always re-test plugins before upgrading BP or WP on a live site.
In reply to: WordPress 3.1I warn that BP may get upgraded but all those extra plugins may break.
In reply to: WordPress 3.1I would not upgrade on a live site until you get an official statement from the BP dev team.
In reply to: OK, 3.1 anyone?I would not upgrade on a live site until you get an official statement from the BP dev team.
In reply to: Am I Breaking Something? Is There An Easier Way?Why are you copying the registration to a different page? Why not just edit the files in /registration? Better, what are you trying to accomplish?
In reply to: Changing the “groups” SlugCoding links into theme HTML with component slugs you use this:
`<a href="//group-name-here” title=””>`
You shouldn’t use http://url.com/groups/blahblah
Also, if you are using cache you may need to renew it.
Different theme. I’m not supporting widget theme any longer. I may make columns into a custom theme.
In reply to: buddypress versus diasporaThere is already a wp plugin that allows sites to connect user accounts across domains. Doesn’t use BP xprofile though.
I would do it as a settings component plugin if you want users to choose colors. Check out the groups css plugin to see how that was done if you want users to be able to add their own colors. Like Ray says, if you let users roll their own CSS then you will have the nightmare that was myspace. If it’s just pre made CSS files it’s easy to have a switch based on xprofile field. Search here it’s been asked before.
You create a file called robots.txt and you specify which URL so for instance it could be anything after /activity
User-agent: Googlebot
Disallow: /activity/*This blocks google from scraping your images. This is a MUST for social networks that are using Albums.
User-agent: Googlebot-Image
Disallow: /@mercime I hear you
In reply to: BP_register_SlugIn reply to: BP_register_SlugI wouldn’t change slug. I’d create 3 different forms in register.php and show the corresponding form. You could start with buttons for types then when clicked it shows correct form. But there will be a problem because the register for it is tied to options in admin and I’m not sure you can have 3 different sets.
Woo themes can be thankful they were not dealing with the classic theme. That theme was a tangled mess.
It’s not really at hard once you figure it out. The bp templates are easy to add. I’ve added bp to numerous woo themes over the past year with little fuss.
In reply to: Changing the “groups” Slugadd
define (‘BP_GROUPS_SLUG’, ‘gangs’);
To bp-custom.php file in your plugins folder
In reply to: Paid support to fix a problem?Went to members page but it’s redirecting.
WP drop down menus coming to BP 1.3. Dont know when release is coming. You can roll your own code and CSS.

In reply to: buddypress versus diasporaDiaspora has one failing goal and that is to compete with Facebook.
