In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at last
nexia is talking about a different issue.
After you enter the URL hit the TAB key and see if that triggers the AJAX. You can also click anywhere else on the screen.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI have not done extensive testing on single WP, but I plan to before the next branch is released. Your issue sounds kind of bizarre, and I can’t think of any reason why that might be happening.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastSticky link is a really good idea. I think I will add that one sooner than later.
List in multiple categories is on the long term development time line. Some time in the future I will be attempting (again) to switch the categories to the internal WP api which is almost impossible to hook into, and at the same time I will be adding tag support. This is going to be a while though.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastYou are the only person who has reported a problem with the translations. Chouf1 is the person who is my translation expert who helped me set it up. Maybe he can help you?
Most popular sorts based on a popularity algorithm similar to Digg. The filter you want is Highest Rated.
I have been getting a TON of requests for minor tweaks that may or may not be useful to everyone. I am making notes of these, but for now my focus is on adding core features. If I spend too much time tweaking the templates development will stall.
Anyone who needs small changes to the interface I would encourage to play with the templates and template tags. If you think your modifications could be useful to everyone, send me the code and I will adapt it for the core if its acceptable
In reply to: 1.2 plug-ins listBuddyPress Links 0.3 works with 1.2 including single WP:

Here is my blog post about the release:
http://marshallsorenson.com/post/buddypress-links-0-3-released
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastMy focus now is on adding features, as this software is still very young. Just like with BuddyPress I don’t plan to create a huge admin settings page for configuration options that hardly anyone will use (for instance default avatar sizes, etc). In the future I plan to create a settings page in the admin, but not until the software is more mature. Lots of things could change, and I don’t want to worry about supporting lots of old configuration options.
I can’t help with your redirects issue without a lot more info, and a link would be the most helpful.
The language files are out of date. I have updated FR and DE translations that will ship with the next version. You can always create your own translation file if you are unhappy with the ones that have been donated.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI am making a note of these suggestions for configuration options. Not sure if you have noticed, but there are already quite a few constants for overriding the default settings, just not any of the ones you have mentioned (yet). Look in buddypress-links.php and you will see which ones are available. They are pretty well documented there in the source.
Thanks for the report. I will take a look at your issue later today or tomorrow when I have more time.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastYou want to be able to disable avatars in the link list only, or make it so they can’t even be created? If you want a custom link list item, then you can override link-loop-item.php.
I am not able to duplicate any of your category issues. I need a link where I can see the problem, and detailed info about WP, Links, browser versions, etc.
There are no “pages” for categories, although there is a slug created just in case it is ever needed. The concentration moving forward in BP seems to be on filters, so I wouldn’t develop this feature unless there was a lot of demand.
It is possible to make links your homepage, but that is out of the scope of my support. You will need to create a custom page template and set that to your home page.
I am working on this right now.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI didn’t mean to give the impression that I will copy how facebook handles links in regards to their activity stream. I want to do it in the most user friendly way possible, just not sure exactly what that is yet. The main goal of this entire plugin for me is to enable people to share stuff they find on the internet as fast as possible. So however we need to make it work to meet that goal is what we are going to do.
I don’t think it would be too hard to make description an optional field with a configuration constant. Per category I don’t think is worth the effort unless a ton of people request it.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI just tested this and was not able to duplicate it. Do you have a link where I can see it?

Tried to PM you but not able to reach your profile.
Can you please PM me with a URL and user account where I can take a look? It also would be helpful to know what browser you are using. Try a different browser as well and see if you get different results.
I am pretty sure that WP does not support this.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastIt looks like you aren’t using the latest version of BuddyPress. You need to have 1.2 FINAL installed.
@Sunset Cowboy
There is a usability issue that Mike Pratt brought to my attention that may be happening to you. Its not worth explaining here, but what you need to do is after you enter the URL, tab out of that textbox, or click somewhere else on the screen to make sure the onBlur() event fires.
Nothing in the avatar or advanced settings boxes are required, so that is not causing your problem.
In reply to: BuddyPress Themes In WP Theme Repo – Please UploadNice, this is so huge!
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI didn’t know what you were talking about because I just noticed there were tabs there today, lol.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at last@Michael Berra
But I can also comment on a link-activity in the stream without showing the comment as a comment on the link page
Ok, I just now figured out what you meant by this. I see what is confusing, and I will fix it for the next version. Right now I am filtering out comments for “link created” activity, and if people reply to this it does not show up on the link home page.
So the comment IS in the link home page comment stream, but its being filtered out, which is bad. I am going to remove this filter prior to the next release.
Excellent feedback, thank you very much!
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI can’t believe no one busted me on this one, but I completely forgot to include a “Links” tab on the personal activity subnav on profile home pages! Wow, what an oversight. Its too late to put this in the 0.3 branch, so this will be in the 0.4 release. Sorry about that one!
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at last@Michael Berra
I understand what you are saying now

r-a-y is correct as he and I have discussed this privately since he has a plugin which injects media into the activity stream. I am working on integrating Links *directly* with the activity stream so you can attach a link to ANY activity update, just like you see on Facebook. Except I also hope to enable attaching links to replies as well. This is still in the planning stages, so if anyone has some input, now is the time to put in your two cents.
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastI have a couple of questions I have been playing with adding a (tweet this) to the link at the bottom where it says:
‘0 Comments (avatar image) admin created 5 seconds ago – (then here I would like to add a button for sharing)’
Cant find the right section to allow this do you have any ideas?
You need to look at link-loop-item.php, there are a TON of actions in there.
Another question as well is it possible to make the link section your home page, i.e. the first thing I want people to see is the link listing page, any ideas on how to do this?
This was possible on the old default theme using a widget, but I dropped the huge widget until I can maybe bundle an optional CMS type home page with the plugin so there is room for the widget.
Some suggestions (you can tell me to take a running jump on these!)
Is it possible to add a question in the link submission page (to prevent the inevitable spammers) like ‘whats 98 + 17 (enter in box) once they have given an answer the link is posted based on correct answer or wrong one throws up link could not be posted.
I have been thinking about this, and I’m not sure how to handle it yet. I would like to get some more suggestions from the community before I pick a direction.
The other idea is a bookmarklet code so people can post on there blogs etc, or some kind of iFramed box to show how many votes they have received on their blog once the it has been submitted.
This will be in the pro version.
I know I may be reaching here but I just think this is a fantastice piece of code.
Cheers dude, look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers!
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastThanks for the kind words. I will respond to your questions later when I have more time,
@Michael Berra
The comments ARE part of the activity stream. I am using the activity stream API to create the comments, so they should be showing up on the activity page, and everywhere else. I will PM you later with my e-mail for the translation!
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at lastNice work, you found two bugs at once. The main one was introduced when I fixed date localization issue and the query wasn’t being passed to prepare. The other one has been there since version 0.1 and nobody ever picked it up, but its minor.
Here is the update file in case anyone wants to do a hot fix, but this bug is not a big deal if you are just testing. I’m sure a 0.3.1 will come out by next week.

In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3-RC is outThanks for the love. You are one of my original supporters from back in the 0.1 days, and its much appreciated.
My post about final being released got buried, so here it is for those that missed it.

Please continue the conversation over there!
Since the child theme functions.php loads first you have to add an action that removes the other action before it tries to execute it. Since the core action runs at default priority 10, you just have to hook in at priority 9.
Here is how to do it:
function remove_header_support() {
remove_action( 'init', 'bp_dtheme_add_custom_header_support' );
}
add_action( 'init', 'remove_header_support', 9 );In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3-RC is outI removed the font styling on the menu header to avoid any more confusion in the future.
Not getting many bug reports. Do we have a pretty stable version here, or should I leave it out there a while longer before tagging it final?
