    I fixed this bug earlier this morning, and it will work in the final version. Thanks for the heads up.

    It sounds like what you are wanting people to see by default is their profile activity tab. Why not just hook into the routing somewhere and redirect the home link to the user’s profile home?

    You would have to do something like:

    1. Create a dummy page that is set to home in settings->reading so that blog and activity have their own tabs.

    2. Intercept loading of the home page and load the user’s profile instead.

    This is just a direction to go in, it may not be possible.

    @r-a-y,

    I think that gives me enough of a clue to track this down. I will try to have a patch for you to test out tomorrow.

    Re: tabs issue – That is a theme thing. I don’t have any control over the nav functionality of the default theme which I am just hooking into by adding a tab.

    Re: time issue – That one is really weird. I am not messing with the dates at all. The data is stored in mysql as NOW(), and when pulling it out I simply strtotime() it and later it is passed to bp_core_time_since(). It could be that strtotime() is not seeing your timezone setting. Can you do some debugging on your end?

    Re: nothing showing up – That is how the default theme works. There is the same problem with all of the tabs unless I am missing something.

    Re: buttons – I want to put some buttons in the list, it just keeps getting pushed back.

    Your issue is related to javascript. I am not going to be able to help you debug that unless you have it installed somewhere public that I can test it. I would need an account on the site :)

    Yeah, its confusing how the dev version link is all the way at the bottom!

    @r-a-y

    I have all of the bookmarklet code from a previous project, I just have to implement it at some point. Btw, PM me with details of your oEmbed plugin so we don’t have any conflicts fighting over URLs in the activity stream. I am working on integration right now.

    @etiviti

    Glad to hear its working well for you! Be sure to post any bugs

    @everyone

    I just committed code that enables a very basic widget that is similar to the groups widget. The old widget is on the back burner until some themes come out with larger widget areas that can accommodate it’s width.

    This is the development version zip. It will always contain the latest trunk. Normally this is not recommended, but you guys seem to really want to play with it so ymmv.

    Thank you. Apparently that function was removed from the core at some point and I missed it. I just commited a fix for that. Wait a while for the development version zip to update, then try downloading again.

    @bennyticklez

    Are you selecting a category? That is required too.

    @Modemlooper

    I can tell by the error I got on one of your pages that you are not using the latest dev version of links.

    If you can’t wait, just download the development version, it should work with 1.2.

    @Modemlooper

    At least two people have it working with single WP. Download the development version and give it a shot.

    I suggest you wait for BP 1.2 final to be tagged, after which I will be releasing a new beta that is more stable.

    @mrmaz

    @msrecko, @pjnu

    There have been a few changes in BP trunk that have required changes to BP Links over the past few days. Right now for everything to work properly you must have the latest BP trunk AND the latest BP Links trunk.

    Sorry for all of this. I will be tagging another beta that is pretty stable after BP 1.2 is tagged final to avoid any more confusion.

    Netbeans, Xdebug, and Firebug are all free and all you need.

    Netbeans has jQuery code completion, yeah.

    There are a couple of bugs with how links hooks into the activity stream, and the comment count, etc. I have them fixed in my local copy, and when BP 1.2-RC3 comes out I am going to release another beta.

    If you still think something is funky after that, we can tackle it.

    Thanks for the great feedback. I will be going over these tomorrow.

    BTW, when RC3 comes out you will need an updated version on bp links that I haven’t committed yet.

    I ran into a problem with the bp_init method of loading, and need some feedback.

    ‘bp_init’ is called on ‘plugins_loaded’ p10, but ‘bp_core_set_uri_globals’ runs on ‘plugins_loaded’ p3 which depends on $bp->root_components. So its not possible to add a root component using ‘bp_init’ in time for some of the setup calls.

    Here is my hack to make it work right until a solution is agreed upon. You need an additional function:

    function bp_foobar_setup_root_component() {
    // Register 'foobar' as a root component
    if ( function_exists( 'bp_core_add_root_component' ) )
    bp_core_add_root_component( BP_FOOBAR_SLUG );
    }
    add_action( 'plugins_loaded', 'bp_foobar_setup_root_component', 2 );

    *** IMPORTANT ***

    Anyone using the development version should REMOVE this setting from wp-config.php if they added it for testing, since this will cause all sorts of problems now.

    define ( ‘BP_LINKS_THEME’, ‘bp-links-default’ );

    If that is in your wp-config.php, or anywhere else you may have put it, get rid of it!

    @paulhastings

    There is a lot of pressure from the top of the food chain to move past classic theme. This is evident in the fact that classic theme will not even ship with 1.2 and has been relegated to the backwards compatibility plugin.

    @NGO

    Thanks for reporting that feed link bug, I have fixed it in trunk. I am not following what you mean regarding the comments issue.

    @Gpo1

    Auto-embedding refers to embedding content from the URL that is submitted. There is no support for automatic adding of all of a user’s content from a remote service.

    @David Angel

    Awesome! Are you running WP single or MU?

    @Dwenaus

    One other person has reported a similar problem, I am looking into it. Do you have BP installed in a sub directory of the document root by any chance?

    @Everyone

    This beta seems to be broken for quite a few people. However, geoffm33 has it working at 95% on a single WP install, and David Angel has it running as well, so there is probably some kind of install-specific issue that needs to be worked out. I will do my best to get to the bottom of it and put out another beta ASAP.

    In the meantime, you might want to try the development version which I have updated today with some fixes that might work for some of you that are having problems. It also might make things worse, so have courage!

    I think get_blog_option() is not working the way I expect it to. Can you try adding this line to wp-config.php and see if it helps?

    define ( ‘BP_LINKS_THEME’, ‘bp-links-default’ );

    @mrmaz

    Thanks to everyone who tested so far. I am going to work on these issues tonight and tomorrow. I hope the single WP support doesn’t hurt too much, argh.

    Question: Can somebody please test with MU 2.9.1 or higher, bp-default theme activated, and NO child theme? This is what I have working in my sandbox with none of the above reported issues.

    Yeah, its pretty much done. I still need to test it on a single wp install.

    I am not going to do an official release until Andy tags BP 1.2 final, but I might do a beta release before then.

    Not sure if you are aware that home.php was completely removed from the default theme in trunk? You may know this already, but just wanted to make sure.

    If you still have a home.php in you child theme, I am not sure that BuddyPress is even looking for it.

    Just throwing some stuff out there in case it helps break anything loose.

    1. Create a page called Blog, make sure the slug is ‘blog’

    2. Go to Settings > Reading and set the “Posts page” to Blog

    I just tried this and it works, although the tab is all the way to the right.

    @mrmaz

    Hrmm. I miss the “Blog” tab when the home page is set to “Activity” as well.
