the answer is YES.
bbPress is a forum plugin that can be used separetly from buddypress. If you need extra features, bbPess has also some plugins.

no it’s not possible. WP post comments are not forum discussions.

@notpoppy Do you have a timeline in mind for migrating to BuddyPress? The bbPress plugin will become available Q1 and should work well with BuddyPress. You might wait until Q1/Q2.
