In reply to: Remove HOME from head/title
pulled in from
bp_page_title– filter name as wellbp-core-templatetags.php
function bp_get_page_title() {In reply to: I can’t type backslash in the forummight be a deep filter within bbpress but if you’re posting code/latex to the forums, have a go at installing syntax highlighter and just a quick hack to get that working properly:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/quick-hack-enable-syntaxhighlighter-evolved-on-group-forums/#post-60096In reply to: Group Tags not working?I’d probably dedicate more time to trac patches if I knew or had a better understanding what/where/how and being on the same page/vision for the project. Probably why I stick to plugins, I have a better control over what I think works vs what the collective maybe thinking. (plus i don’t look like a doof since i’m a Java junky vs php guy
) And what @boonebgorges mentioned – 99% of the plugins I created came from a specific client request – I just like to recycle back to the community.( just to get on the fun, i sent in a patch today

bp_activity_delete_linkto remove itIn reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?add the arg no_stickies=no
bp_has_forum_topics( ‘no_stickies=no&type=newest&page=false&max=’. $instance )
In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?possible you changed the forum topic sort order somewhere else? seems ok on my demo site – try setting type=newest within -> bp_has_forum_topics( ‘type=newest&page=false&max=’. $instance ) otherwise there is no sort order to pass in.
the edit/delete links are wrapped with wp_nonce_url() – so i’m assuming there is a level of protection if accessed directly.
also bp_get_the_topic_post_is_mine() is on the reply posts
have a look at the theme file /groups/single/forum/topic.php
two sets of admin links which you can apply a filter or just change the if statement around those (probably remove bp_get_the_topic_is_mine() )
In reply to: Changing order of items in activity streamif you want the entire top line (time since, action, view delete links) – modify a child theme for activity/entry.php and move the div (class activity-header)
@anointed – a new component is not required – just add a new function to your custom/functions file that mimics
bp_blogs_record_post(same save_post action hook) but targeting whatever post_type you need. This would allow you to change up the “wrote a new blog post” and add whatever else (meta)something like: (just taken from bp-core.php line 397)
is_null( $bp->displayed_user->id ) && $bp->current_component == BP_MEMBERS_SLUG && $bp->is_directory
In reply to: Filtering out Activity Stream stuff@lincme – create a new topic in that plugin group with the error message and steps taken? (and if you had any certain types blocked prior) – i’m unable to reproduce with a type of ( created_group or nothing)
the only thing i see at the last step in the group steps is recording the activity, prior to redirect to the group homepage.
In reply to: Time Ago in Activitythis falls into the activity-templatetags and the function
bp_insert_activity_metayou can filter on bp_activity_time_since to remove it
then just a matter of modifying your child theme file activity/entry.php and reference a new function to display the time-since where needed (since within the context of $activities_template loop – easy to reuse some of the code in bp_insert_activity_meta )
In reply to: Filtering out Activity Stream stuffif a site owner does not care about certain activity items at all – block em:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-block-activity-stream-types/correct trac ticket (one listed above was for activity time_since)
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2504confirmed – i have the same issue now (7 hours ago)
messages_new_messageuses ‘date_sent’ => time() instead of gmdate since the templatetag uses bp_core_time_sinceactually a few other oddities where notices use time() as well. (but that actually calls bp_format_time in the templatetag)
In reply to: Change avatar button on profile pageas for the button code – just wrap it in a div with the class generic-button
In reply to: Change avatar button on profile page<?php if ( bp_is_my_profile( ) ) { ?> your link code here <?php } ?>
In reply to: Change avatar button on profile pageuse the core-templatetag
bp_is_my_profile()in a conditional checkIn reply to: Quote messagesno, all packaged into one (just easier for me to maintain and reuse code)
have to change up the theme file topic.php for that one (basically reformat $topic_template->post->post_time )
In reply to: Quote messagesi haven’t seen anything for activity stream replies yet
In reply to: Quote messagesfor group forums? – group forum extras plugin which has an ajax quote feature (requires a theme modification so the reply box is on each page though)
In reply to: Limiting characters on status updatecouple of jQuery packages out there, TextLimit is pretty simple – syntax as such: jQuery(“textarea”).textlimit(‘span.somecounterspan’,500)
then as a backup – just use one of the filters to excerpt the content (only issue is error handling)
