@saurabhshukla Thanks! I’m looking forward to being able to migrate to your plugin… already checked it out and am very impressed!
Honestly I’m really fed up with this plugin… the beta for it was originally scheduled to launch December 2011 and it has yet to see the day of light. I don’t care about the whole name drama, I care about the future of this plugin and how it relates to my site and what my options are.
@foxly could you please set up and clear up what the heck we can expect? Honestly? I’m finding it very odd that you’re responding to stuff in the plugin repository after a year and a half of telling people you ignore those threads and only respond to ones here.
@saurabhshukla do you have a newsletter/twitter feed/etc that I can subscribe to for notifications on when the importer will be ready?
I’m not in the position to switch plugins unless there’s a tool to migrate from one to the other — my gallery has thousands of uploads now. I hope we hear something from the developers soon…
The pagination function was commented out in the template tags file. I un-commented it and so far so good. I hope that was the only issue…
@foxly … anyone?? This is a key part to my site and a real hindrance… need it addressed ASAP.
Yep – that plugin didn’t work, I was still able to register with a space. The plugin hasn’t been updated in over a year either.
Thanks @inkblot but BP does manage the registrations, not WP — IE how it used to disable uppercase characters because of conflicts within BP. I’ll take a look at that plugin later – for some reason the Plugin directory isn’t loading properly atm.
Also, search through the forum for the activation email problem. It’s common and often times is related to your hosting provider or MX settings.
@chiangmai – It could be because it’s not compatible with BP, I’m not familiar with that plugin but not all WP plugins are compatible with the BP registration process.
I’ve had success with Wanguard and asking a specific question. I’ve only had one spammer come through in the last month. I tried other CAPTCHA plugins before, and the CAPTCHA wouldn’t show in IE.
Just discovered that I really *do* need the new toolbar – the old toolbar is broken when it comes to marking profiles as spammers or deleting profiles.
The new WP toolbar doesn’t show the options to upload to BP-Album. This is a problem for me, I want the new toolbar but I want my users to be able to upload via the toolbar.
@foxly I haven’t had a chance to create a test site and see if 1.6 causes any issues with the current release. By any chance has the team found any issues? I haven’t seen anything in the forum here except for someone having an issue with their theme, but we use the default BP theme.
@foxly so hold off on updating to 1.6 if it releases first?
I wouldn’t use WangGuard because it sounds like that could easily cause problems for non-bots.
I’ve been having good success with SweetCaptcha, I haven’t had any complaints from anyone & it seems to work for people from all cultures. One bot through since installing, but that is a lot less than lots of bots a day.
Opps, nevermind. I had Groups disabled under Components, but not Discussion Forums because when I was installing the site-wide forums I did get an error back for not having that checked so I re-checked it. Unchecked it and those two items disappeared and the forums are still working for now.
Thanks… but I already had both unchecked and those two items still appear.
The deadline is the 2nd, but the backlog shows it’s expected to be July 25th.
The original deadline was December 2010 when I first started watching this plugin… so, don’t make plans.
I agree completely with @albin … couldn’t of said it better myself. I’d love a smaller version of the new product now, rather that keep waiting for all the new things that keep getting played with. In all the years I’ve been working with WordPress, I’ve never really known a plugin to “develop” like this.
If apple did that, we’d have a new iphone every decade. I’ve been putting off a site launch just because I need a plugin like this, but the limitations of the current version don’t cut it for me, and there aren’t any alternatives.
After poking around more I’m seeing this problem isn’t with the plugin — it looks like none of her activity on the entire site is showing up.
I’d love to give you access to poke around, but it’s a private business site & I can’t do that
I just had my brain turn on, and I’m using firebug now to grab the url… but I’d still like to know if this can be done…
Yeah, I’m also wondering what happened to releasing the beta today… like it was shown on the now erased google calendar. Looking at the new tracking site posted yesterday, I don’t see any note about a beta release… but that the final plugin will be released Jan 10th. I was hoping to have the beta to start getting ready for the final version
You can use another plugin that requires to be invited via email, and once they register they can connect with WP-FB-Autoconnect. However, WP-FB-Autoconnect has been removed from WordPress.org, I’m not aware of what the reasoning was for that. If you’re wanting people to register and then be approved, you might want to consider putting up a form for them to apply & then you can send them the invitation through the plugin.
@tommysollen see this, it answers some of your questions:
