    SocialPreneur,

    I get the fact that resources such as moderators time and community time is scarce and thus should be treated properly.

    As you said:

    **Buddypress doesn’t provide blog functions, it doesn’t provide user management**

    How do I know if something is an intended effect of the software or a glitch. *..ask a question…* Like they say: “There are no stupid questions”

    * I realize that you are an “Expert”, but many are not.

    * I realize that you have self appointed yourself as the adjudicator of all things relevant in this forum.

    I dont understand why ‘you’ dont understand:

    …The question was asked.

    …The answer and guidance was given by a simple link.

    … I appreciate Xevo for it, and Im a little wiser.

    Im frustrated not by the process, Im frustrated by your curt attitude and unhelpful response. (Simply stated, its unproductive)

    It is exactly your response of “go somewhere else attitude” that has given buddypress the reputation of having poor support.

    Get over it! The question was asked and an answer was given! Move-on!

    ..roger that..!

    Is anyone having issues with any conflicts with the Vote it up plugin and buddy links..?

    Please note SocialPreneur that BuddyPress and WPMU are intertwined. How will one know, if a question belongs where, until its asked?

    Further more, the behavior and nuance of software such as WPMU interacting with Buddypress and other plugins can best be described as uncertain –

    So, please think twice before you press the “SEND POST” and leave your arrogance at the door. Im not here to be chided. This is an open community and we all have much to learn.

    You never know who is behind these avatars and profiles, you wouldn’t want to disrespect the wrong guy. The world is a surprisingly small world.

    bp 1.1.2

    wpmu. 2.8.4a

    I tried to install this via the Dashboard Plug in install system.. After installation.. I try to activate the plugin it just gives me back a blank screen..

    I would then have to FTP to mysite to delete the Buddypress-link directory so I can regain management of my admin dashboard..

    any ideas?

    Follow Up Questions:

    I’ve left JJJ’s code snipet in.. (Will that conflict with anything?) —

    – JJJ’s snippet is located in:

    wp-content / plugins / buddypress / bp-core / bp-core-signup.php

    – XEVO;s snippet is located in:

    / wp-content / themes / bp-sn-parent / functions.php

    I’ve left both snippets in…

    Any possible conflicts?

    I hate touching “stock installations” at some point im gonna forget what I did, where.

    Ok Guys!

    That seemed to have worked.

    However,

    the look and feel of: http://porscheheritage.com/register

    and the look and feel of:

    http://porscheheritage.com/wp-signup.php

    is different!?

    would it be possible to just some how redirect to to /register ?

    should I try this with htaccess redirect wp-signup.php to /register ?

    (is that even possible?)

    @porscheheritage

    fingers crossed!

    im about to give it a whirl!

    <hat tip> to John James Jacoby!

    I feel really guilty and stupid.. im not trained.. but.. SVN sounds even more scary (LOL)

    I see this in the TRUNK version:

    211 if ( ” != locate_template( array( ‘registration/register.php’ ), false ) || ” != locate_template( array( ‘register.php’ ), false ) )

    212 die;

    211 if ( locate_template( array( ‘registration/register.php’ ), false ) || locate_template( array( ‘register.php’ ), false ) )

    212 wp_redirect( bp_root_domain() . BP_REGISTER_SLUG );

    This is my version:

    if ( false === strpos( $_SERVER[‘SCRIPT_NAME’], ‘wp-signup.php’) )

    return false;

    if ( ” != locate_template( array( ‘registration/register.php’ ), false ) || ” != locate_template( array( ‘register.php’ ), false ) )

    die;

    Can I just cut and paste whats on the trunk to replace what I have?

    Thanks a bunch dudes! Hat Tip XEVO!

    But, im squimmish about opening any files.. (dont know anything)

    im looking in the /wp-includes/functions.php — is that the right spot?

    where do I cut and paste the code snippet?

    Thanks in advance!

    Seriously! Anyone.. any help…

    behaviour.

    – User goes to “wp-login.php” (from Comments – Blog is set to Users must be registered)

    – User doesnt have an account yet. So user CLICKS on “Sign-Up”

    – SIGN-UP link on the bottom of the “wp-login.php” screen goes to wp-signup.php when clicked

    – wp-signup.php doesnt go anywhere onced clicked..just to a blank page. (I would rather have it go to “register”)

    Please help.

    Hi John Hames Jacoby!

    Thanks for the TIP!

    Seems like marking the blog:

    “Blog Visibility” (Under Privacy Settings)

    “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”

    Removes the Postings from the activity stream!

    ** Since I dont want the Blog to be completely invisible from my users, I have created a GROUP and used the “BP-Group-Blog-Plugin” to make that hidden blog be partially visible and gives my users a Birds Eye view of whats going on in the blog! So its a very suitable work around..

    *** HOWEVER

    ..it would be super cool, if there was a feature that:

    — Allows admins the ability to mark blogs into “groups”

    — Or have users to be defaulted to be in a “group”

    Thanks again and thumbs on the doubling the size of BP!! GAMBARRE!

    Ok.. I think I found it.

    bp-activity-sitewide-feed.php

    @porscheheritage

    Any leads on how to do this.

    I would love to be able to EXCLUDE certain blogs from the site wide activity feed?

    John James Jacoby mentioned that “bp_get_post_content” filters can be tweaked..

    Any thoughts!?
