We are experiencing the same set of problems. BP WP theme, it’s a soccer ball being kicked around but no one has any answers to date
Thanks for this. I found it and deleted a group. This process needs simplification and user consideration. If each step is exceptionally time consuming and complex, using Buddypress is not possible. I appreciate it is free. We cannot complain but it really isn’t free if you are spending weeks of time to achieve patch it temporary solutions that fall apart, one update or plug in later. We still cannot solve our posts, forum or basic search issues. Once again, it is free and we should appreciate that but….
I have the same outcome.
Yes, we all seem to have experienced the same problem. I tend to be very critical re these things but I guess being free and a community we should hold back and let the community and site grow. Still a search would save a lot of time
I just installed this plug in and have used it to purge some spammers. I am impressed. I have had no problems. So I give it a thumbs up. Well done!
Hi IDrumit, did you back up your site via the Cpanel first? If so you can reinstall. If not….
So far so good. I installed a captcha. Got some legacy spam from some of the users that are spammers but I am slowly removing them. Great advice. Thanks to all. That said, the journey is far from over.
Happy to help Grace. ;o)
Smart! You are soooo smart dude. I am going to do this now. LOVE YOUR WORK… unless it doesn’t work then we’ll have words. ;o)Paul, OK, I get that.
I get a little on edge when the wingnuts fall off the car wheels, the prescription medicine makes all my hair fall out or the new upgrade crashes the site. I’m like that. I’ll get a punching bag or something and quit talking it in the forum. Only constructive stuff from now on.
Do remember your own advice when the wingnuts fall off your wheels and the car service department asks you to be constructive. ( Laugh…. I had to). ;o)
The 1.57 was flawed. The new 1.6 has reeked chaos. I don’t wish to be negative but there are real problems with this add on. Admittedly you have to work through upgrade difficulties but our own site died and could not be repaired. Fortunately we did have a back up but have to start asking the hard questions about is this the right path to take.
Also, hope you backed up. Buddypress 1.6 also killed my site but fortunately I was able to restore the old version. So, BP 1.6 is a no-no at the moment.
Thanks everyone, I am going to test drive these suggestions over this week.
Hi Mode, apart from manually remove the offenders, I am not sure what I can do.
I am a new Buddypress user but in a very short time, our site has had numerous spammers join. This is a significant problem limiting the potential of the system. I have just 21 users and have had to remove 4 of them as spammers. What happens with 2100 users? Removing spammers will be a fulltime role and that would seem to defeat the purpose of a self-maintained website and social media community.
