In reply to: buddypress settings no save option
In Chrome, when you use “Inspect”, do a search for
'bp-admin-component-submit':
If you do not find it, something is eliminating it from the output. Could also be a browser extension.
You could also try a different browser to see if this is only happening in your version of Chrome.
In reply to: buddypress settings no save optionDo you have a bunch of plugins activated?
One of your plugins could be unintentionally hiding the “Save” button.
If you are able to, you could also check your browser’s page source or HTML inspector to see if the “Save” button is hidden. When you’re on the admin page, right-click the page and if you’re using Firefox or IE, select “Inspect Element”; if you’re using Chrome, select “Inspect”.
In reply to: Modifying the “read more” activity link behavior. As of right now, you would have to make a copy of the JS to make your required change:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.6.2/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/js/buddypress.js?marks=530#L513This file should reside in your theme’s
buddypress/jsfolder.Keep in mind that this is the source JS. When used in production environments, this JS is minified to
buddypress.min.js.It sounds like Specular has some built-in BuddyPress support, which is either incomplete or wrongly added.
See if there is a
buddypressfolder in the Specular theme folder. If this folder exists, rename it tobuddypress-backuptemporarily and see if the group creation page works again. If there isn’t a
buddypressfolder, there is probably a code snippet in Specular’sfunctions.phpthat is interfering with the group creation screen. In reply to: [Resolved] BuddyPress killed my wordpress!Do you have the BP Group Hierarchy plugin installed?
If you do, there is a conflict with BPGH and BP 2.6.1 and up. I’ve posted a patched version of the plugin that should work:
[Resolved] Still getting a Fatal Error with BP Group Hierarchy plugin
In reply to: [Resolved] auto-embed with in streamYou could try redefining
$content_widthif a mobile device is on your site.Maybe something like:
if ( wp_is_mobile() ) { $GLOBALS['content_width'] = 100; // change 100 to whatever your value should be. this shouldn't be a percentage value. }This is probably too generic though.
danbp’s idea of using CSS media queries is probably better. Or consider using a JS script like fluidvids to accomplish what you need.
In reply to: [Resolved] Profile Fields Error! There was no change to the Extended Profiles component in BP 2.6.2.
Also i created about 11 profile groups but when i checked extended profile for my users from the admin panel i found all the created profile groups plus one more group with no content to it called “Social” which i didn’t create and i can’t even find it under Profile fields tab.
Sounds like a plugin conflict. Did you also install or upgrade some BuddyPress plugins during your BP 2.6.2 upgrade? If so, deactivate those plugins and try to replicate your issue again. Also, try a different theme like twentysixteen since some themes try to add some of their own BuddyPress customizations, which may not work properly.
I have both bbPress and BuddyPress installed on a single site install and the “Pending” link only shows up once.
Can you copy and paste the “Pending” links?
You can just paste in the part after the question mark (
?) from the URL. I’m most interested to see what is causing the second “Pending” link to show up.Your issue is probably caused by a plugin conflict or a rogue code snippet somewhere.
Regarding your email issue, are you able to send out any non-BuddyPress related emails?
In reply to: White Screen after 2.6.2 upgradeCan you set
WP_DEBUGtotrueinwp-config.phpand note down any notices that are being shown? In reply to: Profile Viewing and Newsfeed for ForumsI would like my members to be able to view their friends profiles however, when you click on a person on the member directory it goes straight to your profile and there is no way to view other users profiles. Is there a way to change this?
Sounds like a plugin is blocking functionality to view the profiles of other users.
Audit your plugin list or code snippets to see what might be interfering.
In reply to: user called incorrectlyThe debug notice is telling you that the problem is with the
rehubtheme.The
rehubtheme is callingis_user_logged_in()too early. They should preferably make their login user checks on the'init'hook. Pass this info to therehubtheme author. If you’re seeing these notices on a production site, you can turn off these notices by setting
WP_DEBUGtofalseinwp-config.php.In reply to: BuddyPress REST API QuestionNo, REST does not mean plug-n-play by just pasting a URL. A plugin or third-party script would still need development even if the REST API is fully implemeneted.
In reply to: Some profile tabs won’t translateThe
Notifications %sstring looks like it is available:
https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/buddypress/tags/2.6.1.1/buddypress.potIf you’re using a custom translation from a previous version, you need to merge your language files together. Here’s a quick tutorial I found on Google:
http://www.marketpressthemes.com/blog/how-to-merge-two-po-files-using-poedit/You might also benefit from a translation that is already available here:
https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/buddypressIn reply to: BuddyPress REST API QuestionI see that BuddyPress has a REST API now that can access BuddyPress data from a URL.
BuddyPress is in its early stages of developing the REST API. It’s not close for production usage yet. Follow development here:
https://github.com/buddypress/BP-RESTIt would be great if I could just add a URL somewhere in the settings and have data get pulled in.
You will need to do some custom development here.
If your CRM is CiviCRM, there is a BuddyPress plugin that syncs with that. If your CRM is something else, you could take a look at the codebase and modify it to suit your needs:
https://github.com/christianwach/civicrm-wp-member-syncIn reply to: Deleted Profile Field Still Showing on Members PageIf you’re using an object cache plugin, try clearing your cache.
It is most likely the case that your Members Directory template is customized and you need to remove the “Former Last Name” column from your template.
In reply to: Conflicts with BuddyPress and Pemanent LinksI don’t believe this is a BuddyPress issue. When you change your permalinks, are you able to visit a regular WP post permalink? If not, it’s a WordPress issue.
I would say make sure your server is able to write to the
.htaccessfile.Also, you might have to alter your
.htaccessfile to add the following to the top of the file:Options +FollowSymlinksIt sounds like you are using a custom plugin that updates the username after a certain XProfile field is edited.
Try to determine what plugin that is and disable it.
In reply to: Profile PrintYou’d have to add a custom “Print” button in your template. Or perhaps you could use a WordPress plugin.
If you go the custom code route, here’s an article that might help:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16894683/how-to-print-html-content-on-click-of-a-button-but-not-the-pageIn reply to: How to stop Topic Creation for GroupsWe want to close topic creations. as we want members to only reply back to to TOPICS ALREADY CREATED by us.
This is with Groups and not BBPress Forums
You mention you want to close topic creations, but you are not using bbPress forums. Can you post a screenshot of what you are referring to? Are you talking about the activity post form?
In reply to: How to know the security of a plugin?I am the author of the BuddyPress Follow plugin. I can assure you that there is no tracking or data stealing in the code.
The login page is not handled by BuddyPress.
Please post your issue on the WordPress support forums:
It’s most likely a plugin conflict somewhere.
@kinstahosting – Thanks for confirming that the patch works! I will commit the fix early next week.
In reply to: Individual Groups Link Leads To 404@vitamincee – Luckily for you, some other people were experiencing the same problem with HHVM.
See:

In reply to: Error after update to 2.6.1.1Does this error occur on every page?
Have you deactivated all BuddyPress plugins? If so, does the error still show up? If not, deactivate all BP plugins and reactivate each one until the error shows up and note down the plugin that is causing the error.
@tutorbe @mongmuon @kinstahosting – Thanks for testing on HHVM. I’ve confirmed the bug and have a patch ready:
