BP 1.2 – Disable activity stream comments for blog and forum posts
1) Login to the WP backend, navigate to “Buddypress > General settings”.
2) Under “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?” Select “Yes”.
In reply to: Not being able to post any updates…Did you upgrade from a previous version of BP?
Or is this a fresh install of BP 1.2?
In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!The array_map() warning appears to be a BP thing.
It looks like this is fixed in BP-trunk as of changeset 2747:
In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!Cool! Glad that worked, bennyticklez.
I’ll look into that warning error.
Now to update the readme.txt!
In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now! There should be three files in the .ZIP file. I had some trouble with SVN last night.
Try this link:

Gnarly! Sorry about the plugin not working.
I just reproduced the problem.
Can you deactivate the plugin, rename the plugin folder to “bp-oembed” instead of “oembed-for-buddypress”, re-activate and see what happens?
I’m going to have to look into this some more…
In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!I’m going to test this tomorrow.
But in the meantime, can you post any errors from your server log?
It could be memory-related.
Also can you try opening bp-oembed-config.php and adding your BP domain to the $bp_oembed[‘whitelist]’ array?
If you have BP installed on hxxp://example.com, you would put:
$bp_oembed['whitelist'] = array('<a ','">','<a>','example.com');In reply to: How to return to BuddyPress 1.1.3BP 1.1.3 is available here:

I’m afraid there isn’t a definitive answer yet.
In reply to: HELP: Upgrade issues – Slugs & Missing contentWhat version of BP did you upgrade from?
Also, do you have pretty permalinks enabled?
In reply to: Tweetstream (twitter plugin) Beta testers needed!Cool!

What does everyone think if the “an Tweet” hyperlink linked to the Twitter status update permalink instead of the user’s Twitter page?
In reply to: Three table again 🙁This is a theme issue and can be extended by modifying the theme template.
In reply to: All Activities Have Reply Button?Login to your WPMU backend, navigate to “Buddypress > General settings”.
Go to “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?” And select “Yes”.
In reply to: Memory issues (Fatal error when activating BP)Try upping the memory limit if possible.
If you can’t up the memory limit, try to implement some of the improving performance tips listed here – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/improving-performance/
In reply to: Buddymatic Theme and BuddyPressThe old theme (BP Classic) is available in the BP Backwards Compatibility plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-backwards-compatibility/
The new theme is built with child themes in mind! So yes, you can use a custom child theme on top of bp-default!

In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3-RC is outHey MrMaz
Re: tabs issue and nothing showing up – understood.
Re: time issue – bp_get_link_last_active() displays the right time for me, bp_get_link_time_since_created() in bp_link_list_item_xtrabar_userlink_created() gives me the weird offset. Anything specifically you want me to do for debugging?
In reply to: Lots of new features (Direction / Guidance)I recognize you from the bbPress forums, so I know you know your way around WP/bb!
It shouldn’t take long for you to get up to speed with BP.

4) Re: modifying menu bar – you don’t need to hack the core file.
Read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/modifying-the-buddypress-admin-bar/
You can put custom code in /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php to override settings and variables.
7) Blacklisting usernames in WPMU – login to the WPMU backend, navigate to “Site Admin > Options”, look for the “Banned Names” field.

There are also some good how-to guides as well:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/
Also read up on the global $bp variable:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/the-bp-global/
Hope that brings you up to speed!
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3-RC is outDid you select a category for the link?
In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3-RC is outJust testing this right now.
A couple of bugs:
-Right now, I have no links. I create a link, then head on over to the BP activity stream homepage and select “My Links”. Next, I decide I want to delete this one link, so I delete it and head back to the BP activity stream homepage. Because I deleted my only link, there is no active tab on the BP activity stream homepage and therefore, no activity is displayed. It should default back to the “All Members” tab.
-On the Links directory page, the time for my created link is off by 8 hours. It’s correct in the activity stream though.
-If you’re on the BP activity stream page, and you click on the “My Links” tab, if the filter isn’t set to “No Filter” or one of the other link filters, nothing will show up. This isn’t really a bug due to the way the dropdown filter is implemented in BP, but it’s not great usability-wise.
A couple of requests:
-On the Links directory page, is it possible to add a delete or admin button right next to the “comments” link for link owners or site admins?
In reply to: Lots of new features (Direction / Guidance)1) Moderation suite – look into the various filters – bp-activity-filters.php, bp-forums-filters.php
4) Alter main menu of site – look into bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php
5) User can select password – already exists
6) Multple unique identifiers – would be a cool plugin. are you thinking of custom profile urls?
7) Reserve usernames – in WPMU you can blacklist usernames from registration, not sure if such a feature exists in single WP.
