In reply to: BP 2.4 breaks on page 2 of custom search results
Yes, you just manually edit the files.
If you need help with this, I can provide the patched files somewhere where you can just copy and paste.
In reply to: BP 2.4 breaks on page 2 of custom search resultsI’ve got a fix ready:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/6745/6745.01.patchApply the lines in that patch to your BuddyPress install.
To test this, you’ll need to set
WP_DEBUGtotrueso it will load the unminified version of the javascript:
https://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUGLet me know if this fixes the problem.
In reply to: BP 2.4 breaks on page 2 of custom search resultsThanks for getting back to me.
I can confirm that the pagination handling is a bug. Looking into it and will post a reply once I’ve established a fix.
In reply to: Problems w/ creating a Register pageIt looks like you’re using W3 Total Cache.
Make sure to whitelist the ‘register’ and ‘activate’ pages. Then, clear your cache in W3TC.
In reply to: BP 2.4 breaks on page 2 of custom search resultsMy suggestion of changing
stomembers_sshould work.Give it a shot. Remember to change this to
members_searchin v2.4.1.You should use
bp_is_component_front_page( 'activity' )instead. In reply to: Change BuddyPress Activity Stream OrderI think this is what you might want:
https://gist.github.com/r-a-y/10937509In reply to: BP 2.4 breaks on page 2 of custom search resultsWhat are your URLs linking to? In your video you mentioned something like
/members/?s=whatever?In BuddyPress 2.4.0, you have to change the
sparameter tomembers_s. In 2.4.1, this will change tomembers_searchdue to a typo. How are you setting up the members loop to filter students by school?
In reply to: How to update avatar user meta?We do not store avatar data in the database.
We do a look up at the files level instead.
If you want to show an avatar based on a custom avatar stored in the database, you’ll need to use the
'bp_core_fetch_avatar'filter to override how BuddyPress shows avatars:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.4.0/src/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php?marks=531-546,660-664#L531If you just want to display a user avatar, use the
bp_core_fetch_avatar()function:echo bp_core_fetch_avatar( array( 'item_id' => USER_ID_TO_GRAB_AVATAR_FOR ) );In reply to: Problems w/ creating a Register pageThe registration page only shows for logged-out users. If you are testing the registration page, make sure you are logged out.
In reply to: Fatal error after upgrading to 2.4.0Are you running the Woffice theme with their Birthday extension?
If so, you need to update Woffice:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-call-to-undefined-method-stdclasssave/#post-246973In reply to: How to fix ActivationsFollow what I mentioned above regarding the email plugins.
Do some tests by registering some accounts yourself to see if you receive any activation emails.
bbPress has its own at-mentions system, so you should be able to disable the Activity component in the WP admin dashboard.
To do so, go to the WP admin dashboard and navigate to “Settings > BuddyPress > Components”. Next, uncheck the Activity Streams component and save.
This will disable the Activity Streams component. Then, you should check if the at-mentions system in bbPress will still function properly.
I’m not sure if bbPress’ at-mention system will send email notifications though.
In reply to: How to fix Activations– Make sure email is working from WordPress.
– Tell users to check their spam folder. If that doesn’t work, some have had success with the following plugin(s):
– Mail From: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?type=term&q=mail+from
– A plugin that sends email via SMTP instead of PHP: https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/smtpHow can we disable birthday extension when we don’t have access to dashboard?
Rename the theme/plugin you are using.
For the theme, change eg.
/wp-content/themes/woffice/to/wp-content/themes/woffice2/and reload the frontpage. This should fallback to Twenty Sixteen. Then, rename the folder back to the original name.
If that doesn’t fix the problem, rename the entire
/wp-content/plugins/directory to/wp-content/plugins2/and reload the frontpage. This will disable all your active plugins, which should allow you to access the dashboard. Then, rename the plugins directory back to normal and go to the Plugins admin page to reactivate the plugins manually.
In reply to: buddypress 404 error on the user related pagesThat’s odd.
Are you sure you have deactivated all plugins / code snippets (
wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php,/wp-content/mu-plugins/) and that you switched the theme to one of the Twenties (Twenty Sixteen, Fifteen, etc.)?Glad that you found out the problem, @doubleF!
In reply to: Slow Export of User Account InformationBuddyPress does not come with a built-in export tool, so whatever you are using is a 3rd-party plugin.
In reply to: Groups PagesCan we have separate template for any-group-name page?
Yes! That’s what the template hierarchy is for:
In reply to: BP 2.4.0 – Profile fields registration problemAre you using BuddyPress Multilingual as well?
My guess is that BuddyPress has newer translation strings in v2.4.0 and you’ll need to update the BuddyPress-specific strings on your WPML install to reflect that.
Read their “Translating profile fields” tutorial:
They also have a support forum here:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic-tag/buddypress/It might be that their plugin will need to be updated.
If it ends up that this is indeed a BuddyPress problem, please let us know.
In reply to: z-index issue with 2014 and cover imagesThanks @joost-abrhahams.
I’ve filed a ticket here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6738We’ll get this fixed for v2.4.1.
In reply to: BP 2.4.0 – Group frontpage hierarchy questionWe have deprecated support for the bp-default theme since v1.9:
The future of the bp-default themeThat being said, we can look into supporting this feature in bp-default for BP v2.5.0.
In reply to: BP 2.4.0 – Group frontpage hierarchy questionYou might have to do a fresh install because BuddyPress 2.4.0 uses new code for the
/groups/single/home.phptemplate:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.4.0/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/groups/single/home.php#L75The code you listed above is older code.
If you already have those changes, then I’m guessing you are using a custom theme with BuddyPress support that has overriden the
groups/single/home.phptemplate. If that is the case, you’ll have to change the group home template to use these new lines. In reply to: BP 2.4.0 – Group frontpage hierarchy questionSince you modified the home.php template, you have to make some adjustments so the new changes will work.
Read the bpdevel post on this:
Get Ready! 2.4.0 will introduce important changes in Groups homesEspecially the last section –
Changes in 2 templates.@doublef – It’s probably a problem with the way your team has coded the Birthday plugin.
Can you post the relevant lines where you are creating the profile fields?
